I believe the ACC also plays 8.

what does the SEC moving to 9 do for anyone else? I'm not against it, just don't see the "pros" for anyone outside the SEC. Yes, it makes the scheduling inside the SEC more fair (pointing at you Alabama lol), but what does it really do for the other conferences?

Hahahaha, I love seeing people still thinking that Bama's schedule is easier than Clemson's. Bama not even ranked #1 or defending champions and folks still talk about em!

lol I def am not saying Alabama's is easier than teams outside the SEC, I only give them hell for inside the SEC...because compared to their usual competitors (LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida...soon to be A&M?) their schedule is softer. in part because they don't play themselves, but in part because their OOC games do not compare for hell to those teams OOC games (Duke vs. Texas, Clemson, Oregon, Notre Dame, Miami this year for example...Miami maybe comparable).

Wasnt nobody bitching about Alabama's schedule when UT, Auburn and LSU were good.

I'd say the accountability lies at those respective universities for the weakness of Alabama's schedule.

I see LSU is trying to be respectable. (I'm looking at you Tennessee and Auburn...)

You do realize that people avoid scheduling Alabama....right?

They want home games, when they want them.

USC, Wisconsin, Michigan, FSU....They've all been had. First game of the season. They've all lost.

only Alabama FANS say that people avoid scheduling them, I have seen no evidence of that being true from anywhere outside the fanbase.

LSU has done the same thing, with similar teams. So Alabama doesn't win that conversation.

Do you think Saban or the scheduling people are scared to schedule P5 opponents? Or does it seem more likely that P5 opponents dont want to risk starting a promising season off with a L?

just because one seems more likely than the other does not make it the case. I'm not saying Saban or the scheduling people are scared or not scared, but does that mean they're actually reaching out to schedule them? not necessarily.

Also, before Bama started schedule ranked opponents for the first game (yes, Saban started that trend) nobody had the balls enough to schedule ranked OOC opponents in general, much less first game of the season.

can you provide evidence to him starting that trend? I don't believe it.

What does scheduling all top ten opponents do for anyone? By the way, I've stated previously that I would love to see Bama simply schedule the top ten teams in the nation. Leave their schedule open based on the AP poll. Work it out. Home and homes, neutral sites...whatever. In this day and age, it can be done.

Strength of schedule doesn't even matter anymore....for a lot of teams.

    Georgia, plays in the SECe
    Clemson.....well.....ACC....One decent OOC game.
Bama.....Waiting for the rest of the SECw to get their shit together
LSU....On the come up, but needs to take care of Texas...fo sho
OHIO State......gtfo. losses to VaTech and shit....
Notre Dame........DOESNT PLAY ANYONE FROM THEIR CONFERENCE, struggles with less than good competition, loses to good and great competition. Still ranked in the top 15 every year.

Strength of schedule doesnt.matter.one.tiny.bit for those teams specifically, and more.

I'm all for moving to playing only P5 teams. Even though that is quite a disservice to FCS schools who's programs survive (or thrive if you're Georgia State...lol. UTterly embarrassing) off of the MILLIONS of dollars donated to their programs....

New Mexico State is about the equivalent of playing Missouri, USCe, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia Tech, etc.

I don't disagree, I'm just simply saying that when you compare 1-1 schedules Alabama is more commonly weaker than their competitive counterparts in their conference. that's all I've ever said. I've got no pull in the decision making of schedules, just simply pointing out that fact.

LSU played #16 VT to start the 2002 season. Tell me again how Saban started that trend at Alabama.

    and #3 Texas A&M to start 1992, and 1993 and 1995.

edit: actually looks like LSU played a ranked Texas A&M to start a lot of seasons in the 80s and early 90s.

I'll keep adding to this as I go back in schedules...

    # 1 Nebraska in 1976
    # 10 Colorado in 1973
    # 13 Texas A&M in 1968
    # 4 Texas in 1954

ok I got tired of doing it...Saban clearly didn't start the trend.

Since 07 Bama has 6 ranked opponents on week one and 4 of those are in the top 10. The closest team to that is LSU with 4 total and with 1 in the top 10.

that doesn't mean Saban started any kind of trend. teams have been scheduling top 10 opponents all of history.

folks wonder why we hate Bama fans lol
