seriously though, you know I love you haha, but how can you justify making that claim when over the course of history teams have scheduled top 10 teams? just because Bama may have done it more commonly as of recent, doesn't mean it was a trend started by them or Saban.

 

Yeah, I mean, the top ten has to play SOMEBODY week 1.


How often has it been a to 3 or top 5 or top ten match up?

I don't know for every top team, I know LSU may not always have a top 5 in rankings game but for the most part my whole life week 1 or week 2 has always been a super marquee game.

 

I dont think Saban started it....bit I think he may have been in early of the practice of starting it up every season as a top 1 or 2 team, scheduling a high (very high) profile team, ranked in the top 10. Of course, Saban has no control of where those teams end up being ranked preseason...or what happens to them after they play. Cough, cough FSU.

 

exactly. to say he started the trend of scheduling ranked teams, when scheduling happens a year, two, or more in advance...before anyone knows rankings or previous seasons outcome...is just ludicrous. yeah he does try to schedule a higher profile game, but so do many others. LSU has for a long time as evident by my research.

 

Bama has a couple Texas games in 2022 and 2023.


Let's hope they are back, so people stop bitching about Bama's easy schedule.
