I was overall disappointed in Clemson's play on both sides of the ball but they were still in the ballgame for a long time despite poor play

LSU adjusted better and made plays where it counted

I honestly think the turning point was the targeting call. Correct call, but that man was a force to be reckoned with and taking him out changed the whole tune of the pass rush.

Also, chicken fans are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden like they just won the game

I'd rather have lost the national championship and be 29-1 in the last 2 seasons than be coached by Will Mushroom and not even be sniffing a bowl game

Truth. Targeting hit changed the game in back to back games for Clempson.

It's kind of funny how things work out isn't it? We escaped Ohio State by way of a TD taken off the board and a targeting call

And then we lose the next game, likely because of the same 2 reasons

Imagine being so awful that you have to live vicariously through a team you dont even play regularly

Kind of like SEC conference cheering.

I thought defensively, we played fairly well overall. Sure a lot of yards given up but we expected that... I was a little disappointed with some missed tackles but Heilaire and Burrow are great and they do that. I was disappointed with our offense. Every time we made a stop in the 1st half or 2nd to either increase or decrease the lead, we didn't capitalize. We forced, IIRC, 5 3 and outs and only scored on 1 of them. TLaw was a little off and we didn't run ETN enough. I think our play calling was good at times and bad at others. When we run for 5 or 6 on 1st, hand it off again on second. No exuses from me... LSU played better and deserved to win, that was obvious. Losing Skalski hurt but wasn't the turning point, IMO. Turning point was not taking advantage on the 2nd drive of the 2nd half with the chance to take the lead and then make it one score game from there once LSU scores again. If Clemson scores there and takes the lead, it's a back and forth battle from there but we had chances even after that and didn't capitalize. Credit LSU D!

And for the record I don't think the targeting call was a bad call...I didnt like the offensive PI taking away our TD because I thought they both were a little grabby and at best it was offsetting but I'm not gonna blame refs for costing us a game because I don't believe in blaming refs except in extreme circumstances

Good teams find a way to win regardless of how the game is called

So now the question is who does LSU pick up in the grad transfer market? King from Hou? Newman is off the board now. I can't see Brice leaving Clemson to go there although he'd probably thrive in that offense... interesting but LSU will definitely experience a fairly significant dropoff on O without Burrow.... he makes that O what it is with his decision making and uncanny ability to avoid pressure and make throws down the field.

Targeting was right, I agree. Bad call on the PI though, but even if we get the TD, I don't think it ultimately matters. Maybe it does and we never know but I have my doubts that it does. I don't see us making 2 more stops to score another TD and a FG to force OT, or 2 TD's to win without LSU scoring again or eating enough clock.

I'm curious to see what AJ Terrell and Tee Higgins do now though? They didn't exactly perform the best on the biggest stage and Terrell got abused... Be interesting to see if he still declares. Tee was great all season but didn't necessarily show up on the biggest stage. I think he's gone and a first rounder either way, but neither did themselves any favors for the draft with their performances.
