Just like the P12 never invited BYU or Utah St... they don't have research programs. The P12 requires member schools to be a RESEARCH UNIVERSITY. Texas and OU would have been invited, but they obviously align better with schools to the SE than the SW.

 

There are many nationally recognized research universities that are not affiliated with the PAC, B10, ACC or SEC including many in the remaining B12.

At the risk of going TW nuclear, CA State employees are actually prohibited, by the state of CA, from traveling to OK. So it's hard to see how that would work to include OU in the PAC.

 

Yea, they are. WVU is a huge research facility for medical and engineering but our “rank” is lower because it’s a land grant institution set up to take anyone’s money. This alignment has nothing to do with academics, it’s just the smoke screen you’re repeating.

The notion that Texas is going to get access to different online libraries because of their SPORTS CONFERENCE affiliation is the dumbest excuse I’ve ever heard because I’ve logged into those libraries. There will be nothing shared except a presser during alignment saying there is.. because it already happened.

 

I’m going to have to go ask my tenured engineering professors or friends at the school hospital research facilities for cancer or autoimmune conditions how many grants they received for research because we played Texas or Oklahoma in football. I’ll make sure to record their laughter.

The big xii doesn’t give a shit about academics when it comes to conference alignment and neither does the sec.
The big 10, acc, and pac 12 do.
One of the reasons wvu is in the big xii and not the acc.
The sec cares about money and athletics. Two of the reasons wvu isn’t in the sec.

 

Just because you say it doesn’t make it true. Miami, UL, and UNC all had major academic problems within their school and.. silence.

WVU isn’t in the ACC last round because UVA historically hates us for some reason. From what I remember, they didn’t want VT that badly either until ESPN threw more money at them to try and dissolve the Big East so they could pay fewer conferences.

And again, WVU’s academics are fine. It’s a nuance to look past the simple land grant institution acceptance rates for a state with historically bad high school education rates, but I’m sure you’ll be able to access the right stats now that you have SEC library access.

 

Why didn't they include the Ivy League in the alliance? Sounds like a natural fit.

 

Did I say that only pac12 colleges are the only research schools? No.

I said some schools just don't align with Pac12 requirements which is being an R1 Carnegie Research School, which BYU isn't. Just like Ivy League (which is an ATHLETIC league) are full of high quality educational schools.

 

Us UVA people hate you because every time we mention our school some jackass says “oh, do you fuck your sister” and we blame you for that!
