As far as football goes, he has one hell of a record. Sadly, he's got another record he brings with him that completely contradicts the culture Cadillac revived in the fanbase. That being said, I think he and Cadillac could be a real powerhouse if they get the opportunity to serve the team together. Let Freeze stick to "football coaching", and let Cadillac be the "life coach" or mentor for those young men.

How split do you think the fan base is over this hire? Im seeing a good bit on FB, but I don't know how much of that is trolling and pot stirring.

I'll speak for probably 90% of ALL of the SEC fanbase; fans wanted to see Cadillac get the offer, even knowing he wasn't the "best" option out there. I would rather watch a 3-4 loss team under Cadillac each year than a 2-3 loss team under a lifeless coach that couldn't even tell you what street AU Walmart is on (either of them).

BUT, given the opportunity to work together, it could be a really good show.

My sister graduated from AU in the 1970's, and one of her kids did about 6 years ago. She is a major AU fan, lives in southeast Louisiana, but attends virtually ALL Auburn home football games. Keeps a condo there about 4 blocks from the stadium. Travels for many baseball/basketball/volleyball/gymnastics home stuff too. She's crazy. But anyway, I texted her last night about the news... she replied "I know.. we don't like him".

Hard to respond to this when you told us She is Crazy, Time will tell if Huge Freeze is a fit for Auburn if he is not they sure will not have any problem showing him the way to the parking lot.

The news is in, they WILL be working together. Cadillac is now named the "Associate Head Coach", and this is probably the smartest move AU could've done. I'm definitely not against Freeze, and while I would've loved to see Cadillac take the Head Coach and run with it, I do think this is logically the best decision. This should prove as an incredible opportunity for Cadillac to continue pouring into those kids, as well as a fundamental time of learning under a coach who knows what they're doing (even if they have some baggage).

She's crazy because she plans her life schedule around the AU home football schedule. Also to a lesser degree, the other AU sports I mentioned. She had one of the condos for at least 10 years before my nephew went to Auburn. When he started there they bought a second in the same complex.

this was probably the best move that Auburn could've done after announcing the Freeze hiring. Its a way to pacify the fan base who isn't happy and wanted cadillac. (Just my thought and opinion)

1000% agree, because it personally satisfies me. I don't see it happening anytime soon, but I could definitely see Cadillac mentored by Freeze a little, move off to some smaller school or two, rake in some wins and build a resume, and eventually end back up at AU after Freeze (assuming he stays more than 3 years). He's already gained the respect - now just needs the resume to put behind it, if he wants that of course; he may end up never leaving AU and being content serving the program any way he can.

I guess this criteria applied when talking about Florida state and LSU, but not when talking about Tennessee and Alabama. Stupid committee is stupid.

I believe the committee looked at Alabama's losses both being close and in away games while Tennessee's were not. Then also Hooker being out also factored in. Not saying it's right, but that's what came to mind, I believe. Then there's that good ol' fashioned brand bias. Same reason Clemson found themselves up there despite some of their games looking pretty rough up to that point before they eventually lost to SC and now 4-loss ND.

Oh I fully understand why they did what they did, but according to their own criteria they did it wrong. Plain and simple. Brand bias is right and that’s it. If things slip up, they want Bama in and not Tennessee for the viewership money.

Yep the Right Reverend HF is a good coach and like you say he has another record. Kinda one of being untenable. Which begs to question...what other schools were clamoring to hire HF away from Liberty?? That we know of? 0 Aub good ole boys got their guy!

Playoff will be expanded to 12 in 2024 officially. Ruined the best regular season in all of sports. Hate it. Just turn it into March madness and let 64 in at this point.

Finally. Less subjectiveness and more proving why you belong where you do.
