Ignoring the fact that UT's *Heisman HOPEFUL* is out for the season, would lead most reasonable, logical thinkers to realize that without him, UT is pretty standard issue, middle of the road, B1G quality of a team. Meanwhile, Alabama still has their *Heisman WINNING* QB. You can deny that all you'd like. It is a key factor.

Also, its very difficult to have SEC bias, when the SEC has dominated college football for over 20 years.

Its stops becoming bias, and becoming the "way it is" at some point.

Year after year of hearing the same bullshit excuses as to why every other conference couldnt win their games....and it is somehow someone else's fault. The schedule, the this, the that.

Tell your team to go undefeated and you wont have any issues. SEC teams are basically required to go undefeated, or they are "over rated" and there is "bias" towards them. Starting to sound like a bunch of Scott Frosts at UCF.

I didn’t say anything about sec bias. Simply Alabama bias. Tennessee beat them, plain and simple.

the committee presented selection criteria, all of which would’ve put Tennessee over Alabama, and instead they did the opposite. Therefore not following their criteria.

Also, holy shit can Saban get farther down your throat?

Lol. No. It means less important regular season games. The regular season is the best part about college football - and the best regular season in sports. Every game matters. The UGA/UT game mattered. The UM/OSU game mattered. The hype was legit around those games because they were big games.

Now they’re just games and the outcome doesn’t matter at all. UT loses that game and they’re still in the playoff. OSU is definitely still in the playoff. You’re going to have teams that have lost 1/4 of their games and still make the playoffs.

Technically they don’t all matter. “Lose early” and you’re fine. So…your point isn’t great.

also, for the teams that lose 1/4 of their games, they’ll be lower in the seeding and play higher ranked teams. So this weekends game between Georgia and LSU will be a good “example” of this. You seem like you don’t like the 12 team because you think your #1 might get upset by a double digit seed and that would be EMBARRASSING LOL.

Also if I’m reading the format correctly, the top 4 will get byes. So basically the 4 that would be selected now would have byes the first round, and “most” have agreed they’ve gotten the 4 right each year. So let’s assume they keep getting the 4 right.

the biggest arguments and points of contention are 4-6 usually. So this 5-12 seeding will determine who truly should be in those spots, with a lot less argument since it’ll be decided on the field. Yes, people will argue about who should get 10-12…but people argue about all spots. In my opinion, this is just a sure fire way to make sure you get the right top 4 and champion…by playing a slightly larger pool. Those years an undefeated team got left out, nobody can guarantee they wouldn’t have kicked some ass and won it all But now…we can have that answer.

Completely disagree. They're still very important, especially in the "lost 1/4 of your games" argument you like to use. Currently there are only 2 teams that have that many losses in the top 12 and they both play this weekend. If the committee doesn't think they're worthy, they're not going to be ranked that highly. Plain and simple. There will be far less arguing about what teams are the top tier teams because 12 of them (for now) will get the chance to actually prove it.

Reports are coming out that Blake Corum is going to miss the remainder of the year and needs surgery on his knee.

Can’t wait to hear everyone bitch about 3-4 SEC teams making the 12 team field.

It will be 6 at-large bids and 6 highest ranked conference champions. This year's field would consist of 3 SEC teams, 3 B1G teams, 2 Big 12 teams, 2 Pac 12 teams, Clemson, and Tulane. (Not counting how championship weekend plays out)

For sure. But hopefully other guys will continue to step up as they did against OSU.

McNamara has officially transferred to Iowa. I don't really blame him though. He was not likely to see the field again at Michigan without JJ going down.

we've had some debate recently on the new playoff formit starting in 2024. I came across this video and this guys perspective on the changes. Its different and it makes sense, I think. Hopefully it wont become a reality. If you have never watched any of Josh's videos, check them out. I think he does a good job overall.

I thought it was an interesting take that players of the lesser seeded teams may start to opt out of the playoffs because the chance of injury of what might be a 17 game season. it'll be the same reason why players are opting out of meaningless bowl games now, where those players are making a future business decision for themselves. NFL Stock value and contract dollars over a swag bag from a bowl.
I wonder if the NIL deals will ever have it in the contract that said player must partake in post season activities?
Dang college football has changed a lot in a year or two and will be changing even more in a season or two.
