I'll believe it when I see it. It's the annual fill-time headline that has been there since Harbaugh joined the program in 2015. Word is one booster doesn't like him and has been working to oust him. After Lloyd Carr retired, he wanted Ron English as coach but the university hired Rich Rod so he worked to get rid of him (absolutely ok with getting rid of him). He liked Brady Hoke, but Brady Hoke couldn't do anything more than recruit. Harbaugh was the successor. Said booster is also how the media has been getting all of the rumors regarding the investigation.

It's also looking increasingly likely that the staffer was acting on his own and in his own self interest given what the rumors they just found. The staffer (Stallions) had a 5-600 page manifesto on his plan to become head coach eventually.

I saw that too. My thought is, isn't that pretty standard practice?

I suppose what’s funny that is that there’s the possibility they lost to a severely overmatched TCU because they were overly reliant on scouted signs.

Always a possibility. Although TCU showed up to play and JJ McCarthy spotted them 14 points on interceptions and fumbled the ball on the goal line, which I believe they may have also scored on that succeeding drive. That doesn't really come from signs as much as nerves. Despite all that, Michigan only lost by 6.

On3 brought up some pretty good points regarding the Michigan investigation going on. He also mentioned that TCU changing up signs and having dummy coaches in there was pretty standard. One thing he also mentioned is that the more media outlets that mention it, the more serious it sounds. We never know about most NCAA investigations at all. Furthermore, most coaches are being pretty quiet about it, publicly.

Combine that with the fact that an Ohio State coach said they knew about it before their 2022 game and they still got beat, tells me this is either much bigger than just Michigan, or they don't think it was that big of a deal. I would have especially expected to see OSU blow the whistle against Michigan when they knew if they thought it was a major ordeal. Another thing On3 mentioned on that topic was that you, as a coach, aren't going to come out and publicly shame something when you do it or may need to do it relatively soon.

All the more reason to bring electronic communications into the game.

Edit: it was Late Kick, not On3

Again, this is all over a hamburger he fought the NCAA over. They’re embarrassed and have no control. They let Kansas off the hook for years of cheating and then vacated Reggie Bush’s stats that rescinded his Heisman.

    the ncaa is a joke

A burger and his answer being "I don't remember." But yes, I agree. They can rescind Bush's Heisman and wins, but he still accomplished those things. Louisville won the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament but it was vacated. The runner-up was Michigan but they aren't granted the championship.

I highly doubt they'll vacate wins, but you never know.

Josh Pate also said the CFP committee could take it into their own hands if no one does anything about it. Not sure how tru that is, but :notsure:

If the NCAA drops the hammer, they’re dropping it on themselves. Nobody takes them seriously as is, and this will just reinforce the notion that football should break off.

I mean, all they can really do is decide not to rank them in the top 4 or at all if they felt it was enough of an advantage.

ESPN is reporting he was instructed not to sign it yet, and there’s an absolute 0% chance the NFL cares about the NCAA. Pete left USC under sanctions and nobody gave a single shit.

Harbaugh was asked about it and said that wasn't an accurate statement, although he couldn't comment further.

My understanding is it isn't rescinded, but now isn't exactly the time to re-sign a coach given that would send a message that Michigan isn't taking any of this seriously.
