Defense still looked real good to me…I think beck got his bell rung …I know he hurt his hand but something just didn’t look right about him tonight…

 

Bobo called a shitty game. I blame him more than Beck. Beck looked fine when we finally started to throw late in the game.

Only once have they scored more than 30 points. That was against Western Michigan when Iowa still had Eric All and Cade McNamara healthy.

 

That’s one thing I never understand about college ball…when something works keep doing it,but they don’t.

I kinda hate to see Alabama left out due to the Texas loss. That's why everyone schedules soft non conference. Hopefully the playoffs will give some incentive to play better non conference opponents.

I’m hopeful they get left out because of the Texas loss. Alabama has always squeaked by in seasons with an earlier season loss because it just gets forgotten and then another team gets punished for a late season loss of equal or lesser merit than Alabama’s loss. It’s one reason I hate preseason rankings.

example: Georgia has been 1 all season, best win is Missouri, who teams like LSU have beat…but now Alabama beats Georgia and gets “a win over #1” when in reality Georgia didn’t really deserve to be sitting there.

 

I’m not to hopeful there going any further myself…but I would like to see Alabama vs Texas one more time.

I just wish there was a better way to incentivize bigger games in the regular season. If Alabama had played a shitty team they’d be undefeated and in no matter what, but because they played a good team and lost they might be out. So why would they care to schedule good teams anymore?

As an LSU fan, and LSU always schedules a big opening game or at least one in the season, I love those big out of conference games.

 

If I remember correctly LSU beat Auburn really bad… but auburn gave Georgia a fit.I Think LSU could beat Michigan and Washington…

Exactly. If Alabama had scheduled SSW Kentucky Presbyterian and beat them 80-0 with their third string instead of UT they'd be a lock in the CFP now.

Hopefully the playoffs will make the non conference schedules less ridiculous since they could take a loss without trashing the whole season. It seems like playing better teams would also mean more $ to the program.

 

Exactly. The expansion helps keep some of those fun games on the schedule. If we stayed at 4 or less then teams like Bama would say nah screw that we will play crap games too.

 

I mean, they scheduled Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga...

 

But at least they played somebody, which is more than can be said for many. Just an example, OU played Arkansas State, SMU and Tulsa. Non conference schedules are ridiculous.

It's ripping off the fans IMO.

 

I'll definitely agree that the 4 team system does not incentivize strong non-conference schedules. The small schools enjoy a bit of the exposure though.

 

They enjoy the money. Not the lopsided losses and injuries.

I'm just saying play Somebody. Make the non conference interesting.
