Same here, can't wait to hear the outcome! Hopefully he's ready to start mass producing! Sound like there's a lot of us sitting on the edge of our seats.:D

Excellent! Any plan on trial time with yours before they start producing the bushing for the rest of us to purchase?

Tim, did your truck have the vibes before Chase @ ECGS got a hold of it? and how bad was it? Or were you just preventing the growling before you lifted it?

the bushings are in production and we are hoping to have a small batch in about 2 weeks.

As for a scored grooved shaft yes it needs to be replaced, i was merely saying that the dealer need not replace it if it was not bad. if it is bad then yes it needs to be replaced its spinning in a bearing so it needs to be a clean polished surface.

As for the spider gear design itself I see no feasible solution based on cost. There is no known case that would install in the carrier with out significant machine work to try to eliminate the problem. The added machine work and cost of the case and say a lockright installed would be more than an ARB. And a bushing would still also need to be used.

This spider gear design has been in play since 1986 and has only now become an issue. With the spider gear bore not being machined the needle bearing is needed to support the CV shaft, however needle bearings do not like side load where as the sintered ptfe bushing we are using will take the load and all will be well.

We are also looking at tools and trying to find the best tool for removal of needle bearing and we will make that available if we can.

    Thanks, Chase @ECGS

Chase, if you haven't created a tool and want to contact Ryan (06RadiantRed), he'd probably be willing to ship his out to you (like how I'm volunteering him when I haven't even asked him:D). He created it when changing his, and we used it to replace mine too. Worked perfectly. Here's a post where he has pics:

I just want to say a big thanks to Chase and his efforts in resolving this problem that it seems many of us have. I still can't believe Toyota hasn't addressed this issue and taken the time to listen to just one of us that tried to explain the problem. I'm going to my dealer next week and I'm going to explain to him how I will be changing out my diff bearing myself (that is under warranty) and installing an aftermarket part that fixes the problem. Also thanks to Tim Allan for bringing this issue to Chase. :)

07 dbl cab trd off road. Lifted 3yrs ago with 3" spacer lift. Had vibes... and no idea what was going on, so lift was removed. Found Tacoma World and learned of the front diff problems. Figured screw it...installed 5100's at 1.75 2yrs ago and 1'' block in rear. Vibes came back. Recently moved the 5100's to 2.5 front, removed 1" block and installed 2" add a leaf in the rear. Vibes are worse. 86,000 miles on truck. First lift went on at 36,000. Please put me on the order list. Thanks Chase for your hard work.

First post here; Add me to the vibe club. 2010 dbl cab, Toytec 3” lift up front withAAL and diff drop, BFG TKO 285/75’s on FJ TRD wheels. My first onset ofvibrations was at about 7k. The vibration started distinctly after using thetruck in 4wd for a day of driving on considerable snow and ice. As soon as Ireturned to 2WD, the vibes were distinct. Local Toyota dealership (Clovis, NM)replaced spider gear and left side bearing and all seemed well until approx. 17K,when I again used the truck in 4WD. As soon as I returned to 2WD, the vibes haddistinctly returned. My dealership was very reasonable the first time aboutcovering everything under warranty, but I’m reluctant to wear out my welcomeasking for any additional work as I think he really had to convince hisregional rep to work with me the first time. As the circumstances stand rightnow, I think my local dealer would still provide warranty work if thebearings/cv got really bad but my question is whether installing the newbushing from ECGS would void all front end differential related warranties? Don’tget me wrong, I’m thrilled about the prospect of a solution to make my Tacomafeel like a Toyota should again, but I certainly want to know the consequenceson warranty in advance. Anyone have information on that? Thanks!
