The dealer confirmed the issue was the front diff with the chassis ears, and the fluid change did nothing. They are ordering a new carrier and diff, as well as a driver's side axle since the original showed some wear. He said it was $2600 in parts, plus a full day of labor...all under warranty. He agrees that this may not resolve anything, but that's what Toyota is telling him to do for now. At least we're on the same page, and everything is documented. He couldn't say for sure, but he got the impression from the service support folks at Toyota that a fix is in the works. Hopefully I won't have to go through several diffs before they start using the ECGS bushing or their own in-house solution. Warranty claims cost money, so hopefully that will get their attention.

The truck will go back for the swap next week. More to follow...

Have a Happy and Safe New Year!

Spend 60 bucks... have them put the ECGS in the brand new diff and never have to go back to the dealer again..... as the design from toyota has not changed!

In other news, I'm getting my frame replaced, should I do the ECGS bushing before it or after? I don't want it to get screwed up by the dealer.

Well i was hoping i would never have to come back to this thread (I was in on the first batch of bushings that chase sent out).. Sold my 2011 and bought a 2015. 3" lift went on with less than a 150 miles. Dealer did install the lift and so they lift will be covered in my 7 year/75,000 mile warranty. But honestly i don't think i will even waste my time trying to get the Toyota dealership to understand what is happening again. I was going to just order the bushing and get it over with but i decided to wait and see how long tell i get vibes. I currently have a little over a 1,000 miles and nothing, i will keep you guys up to date when i start to feel anything. Crossing my fingers i never feel anything.

I would say you have a 50/50 chance. Mine started about 1k after my lift with 15k on the odometer. Good luck

he can definitely have more than one truck. LOL Mods are at $10084 and going ...
I currently have no vibrations at 9000 miles on a new truck. This spring I am about to lift 3" the rear (Allpro Expedition springs + 2.0 Rear Fox Shox IFP, Non Reservoir - w/2-3" lift) and 2-3" the front (FOX 2.5" Non-Reservoir IFP Coil-Overs, 0-3" + All-Pro 4130 Chromoly Upper A-Arms) on my 2014 DCSB OR. I will replace the needle bearing with the ECGS bushing at the same time just to avoid future vibration issues. Question is:

Does anyone have the needle bearing removal and bushing install tools laying around to sell at a good price? I am on the East coast in CT. PM me please. Thank you.

We can all say "yes" to the lift but I'm not too sure why the dif drop kit would help cause the vib... If that's what you meant by it?

he said say it rotates the axle and less oil or something dumb like that.
toyota FTS looked at my truck and told me the lift kit had nothing to do with it. they have had many complaints bout this problem. theres a tsb for the 4runner with this vib issue. and the tsb says r&r diff and axle and it has a new part number so maybe they changed something. ill keep yall updated

Does anyone have a copy or link to the above 4Runner TSB front diff vibration issue? Are the diffs/carriers the same?

My Baja is at the dealer now getting its first replacement diff, carrier, and DS axle. My dealer is being cool about the situation, and we both understand that this will likely not be a permanent fix for the problem. We're hoping that Toyota will come up with something, and I'm holding out for a factory fix for a little while longer. The TSB might be helpful to them. And yes, I know the ECGS bushing would resolve the issue, but I want to keep it all Toyota while it's under warranty.
