Has anyone had this, or another tsb done at above 60k miles. i bought my truck used as a toyota certified used vehicle with the extended powertrain warranty. I'm over the original 60k, but under the 7 yr, 100k for the extended warranty for certified used. Thanks for any help.

I would talk to the dealer. I would think since you still have a powertrain warranty which is what this falls under then you would be covered regardless of mileage.

That's what I'm hoping for, just wondered if anyone has had any luck with a similar situation.

My truck is also a certified used and I just recently got this tsb done. My trucks isn't over 60,000 but the service guy that I talked with said this tsb is covered up to 60,000. I said but my truck is a certified used and I have paper work saying its covered 100,000 or 7 years from original purchase date. Service guy said I was correct and that he didn't know it was certified used. So you should be covered.

    All the time!!!
Got mine done by Toyota on warranty!:bananadance: Well mine has been doing this for approx 3 months "ever sense I lifted her 3", it did it most of the time but sometimes it was off, and on, at different times, but only did it from 38, to 52 mph. Finally on December 22, I was one block from the Toyota house slowing down for a stop sign to go out of town, and it went to groaning at about 50 mph. After the stop I went straight to the Toyota shop and asked for the man in charge for a recall warranty. I got him into my Taco. I gave him a copy of the paperwork and went to some smooth and quite road about a mile away. Got it up to 40, and it started the soft groaning, and the small vibration, then I told him when 4x4 was engaged it would stop, so I engaged it and it all stopped, I went trough this process 4 times and it did it the same every time. I carried him back to the Toyota house, and he went to his computer for about 5 minutes, came back and told me it would be a week before they could get the parts, and tools in. Then he told me they were sorry for the problem but he would take care of it. They called me when they had the parts and were ready to do it. It took them 3 1/2 hours to do it and I finally relaxed as I drove away.:D Nothing was ever said about my lift at all. From all the story's I've heard from others about the Toyota shops on this I was nervous the whole time! It seems like its Cured Completely, no groaning or vibration at any speed, and out of paranoia I'm still paying a little to much attention to it I know.:D

I ended up buying the ECGS needle bearing bushing, axle seal, and removal tool from ECGS but never got around to installing it. I ended up selling my truck, so I have these parts for sale. I paid $135 plus $12 shipping for them. I will let anyone have them for $100 shipped to your door. I haven't really ever posted on this forum; however, I can take payment through PayPal, so you will have their buyer's protection so as to feel comfortable with the deal. Please PM if interested.

I believe I also have this problem but would like to confirm my 06 trd with no lift developed the front end vibration at around 100k. I am now at 163k and it seems like it is getting worse. I saw in one of these posts that the vibration stops immediately after shift to 4h. mine takes a few seconds or so for mine to stop vibrating and in my opinion it does not seem totally smooth. it does stop immediately after taking foot off gas. I have changed drive shaft carrier bearing, u joints left front wheel bearing and have no shake or play of wheels or drive shafts while suspended. I am assuming it is the axle/bearing issue. does this sound like the case?

There's a video from ECGS where they explain it, just google Tacoma ECGS bearing install.

The copper end goes inside. The silver end faces out so that you can tap it in without damaging the brass bushing.

My 2010 truck has 53,500 miles noticed vibration and slight noise 30-40 mph for the past 300 miles lots of radial free play in the drivers side CV housing. Vibration disappears completely when switched to 4x4. Took it to dealer along with a copy of the TSB and my Toyota Certified Used warranty paperwork. The dealer technician said he could feel the vibration so in my opinion he confirmed the problem per the TSB. The Dealership gave me a loaner and kept the truck for further inspection and discussion with the warranty guys.

Now, the Toyota Certified rep wants to remove and completely disassemble the front diff. 5 hours to remove and inspect before they will decide if they will pay. 10 hours of labor total on the line. "If they don't find anything owner will pay" according to the dealer service writer. The dealer is not too happy with the idea of having the truck apart and waiting on the warranty rep to "inspect" it before they can order parts.

So what would you do? Let the dealer go for it? Ask to talk directly to the rep before they start on it? Say screw it and do the ECGS myself?

You're 10 hrs of labor into it. Won't do any good to pull the plug now. I can't understand why they're so in the dark about this issue.

This rep sounds like a douchebag.

They felt the vibe. Can see/feel the loose CV, and the symptoms match a known TSB issue. I don't see the issue.

By the way it doesn't take 10 hours to fix this. Dealer had my truck like six hours total I think. And I doubt they were working on it the entire time it was there.
