They haven't started on the diff removal yet, truck is still together waiting on my call. I'm tempted to let them at it and if they refuse coverage just go get the truck, load it on my trailer and pull it home with my wife's Honda, then put it all back together myself.

    All the time!!!
This is what my Dealership did for me.
Man that's a bunch of bull crap, you've got crappy dealership your dealing with. Have you got another one fairly close to you that you could try? I'm lucky, I've got one where I live, and two more within 50 miles of me.

    Install done!

The CV was the toughest part. Also getting the swings at the bushing were tough. Overall not a bad job at all!

I will have the tool set all ready to go to someone.

If you lift, there's certain things that must be done afterwards. This is one of them, there are a few others depending on how much lift you add.

My truck is back from the dealership in the exact same condition that it was when it went there. ECGS bushing and seal on order...

After spending more time on the phone playing middle-man between the dealer service writer and the 3rd party warranty adjuster that certified Toyota uses I just decided to cut my losses and just fix it myself. Time invested by me could have been used to replace the parts.

The dealer wanted replace the entire diff with a new assembly for $2300. The Adjuster was willing to pay only if the dealer could prove it was defective. All I wanted was for them to agree to follow the TSB. The next closest dealer is an hour drive, no thanks I'm done, warranty expires soon anyway thanks for nothing....

That was my first dealership service department experience in over 10 years. I've been re-convinced that there is absolutely no reason to buy any car new. Warranties offer nothing but false hopes and crushed dreams.

Sorry about that. At least the ECGS bushing is pretty easy.

So you didn't let the dealer prove it was defective?

So my dealership now tells me they won't do the TSB because it's very specific and my trucks not making a grinding/groaning noise, even though all the other systems are the same (4hi makes vibes go away). They tell me they contacted Toyota and there's nothing more they can do, and that other trucks do it too so it's normal.all of this is after they already replaced a front cv, driveshaft and trans mount. Now they say it's normal, but before it was an issue and needed to be fixed. So I've called Toyota to open a case, not sure how this one will go. Man did I pick the wrong dealership to go to, honestly thought this would be easy just in and out in a day or two.

Jeez... That stinks they're handing you that way. Best of luck getting your trucks issues sorted out. My lady wonders why I won't take my truck into the dealership....

Its one reason I used to always buy used vehicles and repair them myself.

If one were to purchase the ECGS kit but was unable to do the work themselves, how many labor hours should it take a shop in my area to do the work?

My pickup is ~5k into the TSB and the groaning/growling/steering wheel vibration has not reoccured. So far so good! Dealer replaced the drivers side axle as well.

Sorry for probably posting a commonly asked question on here but there's too many post to try and find it... When I put my truck into and out of 4wd in neutral there is a loud banging noise... Anyone know if this is normal?

How loud is it? More of a clank/shift into 4x4?

Try driving forward a bit and doing the same thing in neutral and drive and see if it does it every time. Mine sometimes clanks in or goes smoothly in with no noise

If you are accelerating or slowing this can be normal. Try to shift in/out of 4WD while at one consistent speed. It'll shift much more smoothly.

I was under the impression that your truck should not be moving when you engage 4WD. I have to put mine in Neutral for 4WD to engage as well

So, when I use 4WD, I come to a complete stop, put it in Neutral, then select either 4H or 4L.

you can shift to 4HI at up to 60mph.... best practice for that is to flip the switch from 2hi to 4hi at the same time that you lift up on the throttle and coast for a second, It will go in without much of a clunk at all. (same goes for coming out of 4HI at speed).

To get to 4 low, you must be already in 4HI. Then you must be under 3mph in neutral for the auto, or with the clutch pressed all the way to the damn floor on the man, then switch to 4 low.

FYI. Had my ecgs busing in for ~ 25k miles... not one damn issue no more vibs... no hassling with the dealer to get the new tsb done... 60 bucks and an hour n a half of my time which included making a puller.... so much better.
