Look no further....$72ish shipped if you don't need the removal and install tool. (adequate tools can be rented for free from local autoparts stores)

sooooo.... While I was trying to pull the drivers side CV out of the differential the rope slipped off the back of the CV and pulled the axle and inner boot off the part that connects to the differential - picture is below.

If someone might be so kind to answer

    - Is that what it is supposed to look like? Assuming its not and after its cleaned, what should it be filled with? Does the Differential fill it with gear oil or should it be filled with grease?

    - Since the boot isn't torn and the axle just slipped right off I'm hoping I could just slip it right back on - any major problems with doing this?

All of this was to replace the drivers side needle bearing with the ECGS bushing and now I have this...lol..at least its a good experience.

Jeez that's not fun. I'm not sure if you can just slip it back on

Didn't turn out to be that bad just cleaned it up with rags, put new grease in and put a cv boot clamp on it - $1.50 from Napa.

    Couple notes -

Slide hammer works great for getting the CV out - free rental from auto zone
The part of the ecgs tool that goes in the diff took more force to get seated than I thought.
2" PVC coupling works great for pounding on the new seal
Seal was hard to get out but slide hammer worked well for that too

Toyota Service Bulletin (Recalls, but Toyota doesn't call them that). It's a monkey shit bearing in the front diff. :)

Lmao go get another new Heep and see how long it lasts until you need to bring it in for a recall or warranty work. All new vehicles have problems and recalls no matter what brand it is. Especially one that just came to sale within the first couple years. Still working out bugs.

This problem sucks, but it is pretty easily overcome. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

    Microscopically smaller.

I'm putting in lockers and gears soon. ECGS tells me that their pre-built diffs all have either their ECGS bushing or if you add ARB Lockers you get the new ARB case which eliminates the need for Toyota's defective bearing. Problem solved. Though it's an expensive way to fix it! haha

ECGS bushings seem to be popular here on TW though!

Heaven forbid Toyota to address any issues that have continued through the 10 YEAR lifespan of the 2nd Gen.

Problem going on 11 years and still no recall so just keep LYAO. BTW 169 pages of complaints on this thread alone, not including the 3rd Gen people pissed about it. don't think I'm alone here. 280k on my lifted "Heep", no vibes or recalls.

I see, will probably go with the bushing myself. Sad to have to put one in a new Taco.

I read posts and saw pictures of people screwing it up, but I'm not really sure how or why it was so difficult. It's not oil change easy, but not a whole lot harder either. If you managed to put the lift on this would be cake.

I'm sure I can get her done. Changed out my share of engines and trannys, just didn't see the reason for your first comment. I'm not the first guy to remove a lift because of problems with vibrations from what I have read.
