My bushing that I had installed two days ago was mint smooth. Check with ECGS. They seem like stand-up guys. So far, so good. Nice and quiet. I saw no wear on the crap Toyota bearings and my installer reported none. I believe the noise comes from the poor tolerance and vibration from the CV against the needle bearings spinning. So far, very satisfied.

I don't like the look of that one. I'd get another one. FWIW I ran mine for 40k+ mi with lift and vibe. The shaft showed no scoring. Except for me screwing up the seal and not getting the new one in right everything went well.

Yeah, it looks worse in the picture than it actually is I think. Messaged Chase @ECGS on their website but they are not open Saturday so messaged him through TW here. I don't know if they actually inspect each one before they are shipped or not. It figures though crunch time is coming for my trip to Minnesota and don't really want to install a bearing and have it start making noise half way there. :(
Anyway will see what he has to say.

I guess I can always drive this if I have to just wouldnt be too much fun, lol

No offense, but bushings and bearings are not the same, if you have a bushing installed already and it is spinning you have major issues. I think you meant bearing, but I don't want to put words in your mouth.

Believe it or not I actually do and a thumbs up here and there. Also got a lot of wtf did you buy that for. Is a damn fun car to drive. If I could only get an extra 50-80 hp it would surprise a lot of people I think. 94 hp @ 2100 lbs stock. Drove around 45 miles today with little tail wind and was at 40.7 mpg. Wanted to keep going to see how high it would have gone, lol.
Anyway regarding the bushing I think I am going to run it. With the blem at the 3 or 9 position I don't think there will be an issue with it. Just still kind of curious as to where Chase would say to position the oil groove, probably doesn't matter as some have said since oil gets splashed around in there anyway.

Is amazing with the amount of movement these have that seals don't go out a little more frequently too.

My wife drives a 2013 Nissan sentra that gets 38-40mpg, sure is nice. Wish my 2016 Taco got a little better mpg.

Anybody gonna get the measurements for the piece that goes into the diff to use to pull the bearing out? Would greatly appreciate it. Work in a machine shop so I know I can make one.

Don't have a tape or anything to measure it. The install tool is 39.5mm, at least that is what it says on the driver

Yea, I figured I could just use the old needle bearing to tap the bushing in. They are the same OD after all.

I can get you the exact measurements from the tool in the morning when I get to work if you're gonna make a bearing/race driver. I usually just find a socket that is the same size and tap it in with an extension though.

The measurement I am needing would be the length width and thickness of the piece you put in the diff to pull the old bearing out.

10-4 I can get those measurements first thing in the morning when I get to work about 7:30 central time

That amount of play, I think is actually normal, why? Because I've done a lot of axle/cv repairs and have notice that all of them have a small amount of play, even in some of the 4wd/FWD race cars I've done.

You may not be there yet, wouldn't hurt to get it done and not worry about it though lol.

should it be different from one side to the other? passenger side is a whole lot less movement up n down wise

I made mine using 40mm steel bar stock. Fit perfectly.
The thing you want to be careful of is the thickness of the material at the ends. That piece has to fit behind the needled bearing and the fit is kinda tight.
Thats why the ecgs tool is shaped like it is.

Did you end up fabbing your own removal tool? If so, want to sell it for a few bones?

Passenger side doesn't directly go into the diff so it won't have much play. Passenger side goes into what I call a half shaft that connects directly to the diff. Hard to explain, you'll have to look at it and you'll see why.

It's a more tighter fit on the passenger side while the driver side goes directly into the diff, so it'll have some play, which is normal.
