    Call Toyota corporate and raise a stink. Cite the Magnuson Moss act - the burden of proof is supposed to be on the dealer. Even if you don't get traction the dealer will get a ding from corporate - make 'em pay :crapstorm:

    Think about how the lift alters the relative angles of the CV joints. As long as they are still within their allowed operating angles then the only thing the lift can do is amplify a pre-existing defect.

    Pretty interesting how some dealers will not bat an eye at the lift while others will deny a claim. I think it boils down to which service advisor/manager you get that day.

    Try another dealer or get the ECGS and be done with it.

    I could tell from the moment I stepped up to the guys desk that I was fighting an uphill battle. He wouldn't even look up the TSB when I provided him with the number.

    I would elevate it - go to the service manager, insist on a ride-along with one of their top level techs so they can reproduce the problem. And ask them the same question I posed about CV angles - see what their explanation is (it will be BS, if they can even come up with one).

    I sat down with the Service Manager before I left. He kept blaming it on the lift, which is less than 2". I asked him if I bought a truck from him today and asked them to install a 2" lift would they do it, he said yes but would not warranty any problems caused by their lift (BS). Then I asked if I bought a TRD Pro in (which has a bit of a lift) would he warranty it, he said yes because the lift is from the factory. I said, the CV angles are exactly the same on my truck. No go, he just kept arguing with me. I don't have any more time to spend with them, but in the future, I won't have any money to spend with them either.

    I went to Dick Poe Toyota in El Paso, TX. Their service department is pretty on point, though just like any other dealership if you have to pay out of pocket for something it's going to cost you.

    I would definitely go to a different dealership, a good service advisor knows if they treat you right you'll be back when you have to spend money and can't do something yourself. I'm not sure why they are being such turds anyway, Toyota is the one that's paying for the work, not the dealership.

    Once my 2016 Tac warms up after a longer trip the vibration goes away. It also goes away in 4wd. Would this still be the needle bearing??

    Mine is the same way. I keep telling myself it's not the issue but fear it is. I'm at 97K. I will do the ECGS bushing when I've had enough. Thanks to all who pass on the tool.

    Had the TSB needle bearing replacement done yesterday. I'd installed TRD Pro suspension last summer and began noticing the thrum/growl when it started getting cold. A couple weeks ago I took a drive with a tech who agreed he felt the same issue. They ordered parts under my name and when I showed up yesterday they had them in-house. I've only driven it a few miles but it does seem noticeably better.

    Thanks to everyone here for the help. Without TW I wouldn't have known what the issue was or that there's a TSB in existence.
    :thumbsup:

    @ECGS two thumbs up!
    Don't know why I sat on doing this. The clamshell bushing is like night and day compared to the needle bearing. I was considering on having the dealer do it but didn't want them messing with my coilovers and F**king Chit up since the effed up one of lug nuts and bolt by over tightening them. They said they needed to remove the shocks and unbolt the uca too:crazy:. There wasn't much difference in the redesigned bearing, I figure down the line I would have to redo it again. So might as well do it right the first time.

    Had Texoma put my ECGS bushing in a week or so ago, and I had forgotten how nice my Taco ran down the road. Great solution! Thanks again, Chris!

    They said that to me also, But my dealer sells lifted Tacoma's.. Having a Diff Drop in helps your case.
    It did mine. I put it in before taking it to my dealer.. Told them It shouldn't make that noise because I have the Diff Drop in. lol.. Dumb asses agreed and fixed my bearing under warranty.
