    2.5"

Original bearing destroyed the CV axle too, so I had to replace that as well. It was all under warantee otherwise I would have went the egcs route.

ya i had the stock one lifted for like 5000 miles, then the tsb for less than that and the ecgs one now. Its been the quietest of them all.

Cool. i suspect the TSB bearing will eventually fail, and I'll be going ECGS then.

The TSB bearing that I got was a different part number and was constructed differently. Maybe it will last, who knows. Seems suspect that the 3rd gens are plagued by the same issue.

ya its still a bearing. The ECGS is a bushing so they are very different.

    Right.

Funny thing is that the '86 - '95 IFS had a similar issue. Those had a bushing that would eventually oval and not support the CV axle appropriately. The "fix" was to replace the stock bushings with a needle bearing. Toyota supplied the replacement bearings. Different suspension design, but interesting. Toyota has struggled with this for a long time.

lol they went on record and promised no more vibrations in the third gen. But guys had them with no lift even day 1. I havent owned other makes of trucks and lifted them but im sure they all have their own problems.

Im going to get gears installed at ecgs in north carolina. They are only charging me for the bushing itself. I would call ecgs and ask them what they charge for the install so you would have a good idea for a good price in your area.

Hey ya'll I just installed mine last night. Might I just say WOW! I've seen some of u do it with a slide hammer and I tried to take that approach. And it was a struggle. Bearing was coming out in pieces. Did not come out at all. If any of you are attempting this BUY THE SPECIAL TOOL!! it would save u the stress and headache. And make the job way easier. I had to make a special tool out of some plate steel I had. And trying to find a bolt long enough that would fit it was difficult because the shop I work at was about to close and the hardware stores were all closed up.
But now since I got the bearing installed. It's beautifull! No vibes at all.

I am having the same issue with my ECGS bushing.
The bushing and seal replaced 30k ago now leaking in the same area as your pics.
going to pull the axle and check the bushing and replace the seal while I am in there.

what ended up fixing your leak ??

Nothing....just went and checked again and it's still leaking...running down and dripping off the bottom

Don't know whether to replace the cv and seal or just the seal

What are the odds it's the cv ?

I am going to pull the c/v out, replace the seal and inspect every thing. I will post if I find anything.

Just curious how important is to get the ECGS bushing installed or if it is more about people being annoyed with the vibe and rumble?

Also, once installed, I don't need to do an alignment, correct?

The rumble you're hearing is the bearing in the diff failing. Eventually it will be a critical failure. The sooner it gets replaced after the initial failure, the less damage will be done. No alignment should be needed if all you are doing is replacing that bearing.

What are the damages resulting from the bearing failing? Sorry, if this is a stupid question, not very technically inclined, just trying to educate myself about the issue. Got a small vibe and rumble couple weeks after a small 1" lift was put in. It may or may not get worse, I don't know how bad is it compared to other trucks, but I can tell it is happening though at the usual 25-35mph (which is 80% of my daily driving) and goes away in 4hi. I'm curious as truck has 135k miles, so is it still advisable to replace right away or is it possible to wait and until I other maintenance done in that area due to otherwise normal wear and tear? This is looking like a $600 or more job by the time I get parts/tools shipped from US, $ conversion applied and shop getting the work done. :goingcrazy:

Get it done sooner, won't have to replace CV due to worn shaft. Later, possible shaft wear on CV, bearing pieces inside of diff, bearing fails too much further then seal may start leaking, it can go on and on, and a rotating vibrating mass can only be bad to something that is supposed to not vibrate.

Did you guys put a end cap on the 2" pics seal driver ? It was so hard to get it in straight with that amount of room..

Also who left the bushing 1-2mm sticking out ? Any issues?

I had a length of pipe behind the coupling, but nothing on the seal end.
