Huh well that's a snap - it does NOT go away in 4Hi, so I'm assuming driver's side wheel bearing--is that a safe assumption?

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
Possibly, jack up truck, put on jack stands, shake wheel up and down, if there's movement, bad bearing. Also spin it, if you hear screeching or rumbling, bad bearing. Don't be fooled by brake drag though.

Thanks - will give that a go here. Local shop quoted me $420 out the door for a wheel bearing replacement. I think 155,000+ miles isn't bad for a wheel bearing :)

For both sides? re-using the hub, bolts and o-ring? Are they going to replace the cv dust seal that is likely damaged for $420?

For just one? That is just crazy! You can buy one of my complete assemblies with all brand new parts for $165 each right now, and do it in your own driveway if you wanted, saving tons on labor costs!

I did the ecgs bushing last weekend. Replaced rough country lift with 2017 off road shocks and springs. Toyota replaced leaf packs this week. Truck rides a lot better. Original front bearings but have two bamaboy complete bearings in garage. I have a little slack in stearing and what seems like tire noise to me. Have jacked up front tires and no movement or growling sound.

I may be late to the game here, but my 09 dcsb sport has this issue, since lifted at 22k, now has 43k, had the extended warranty for 8 years, ran out a year ago or so, is the TSB free? or just under warranty? They did the AAL's and steering bushing thing for free. Anyone have any recent stories on costs?

I’ve got 6 K+ miles on my dealer installed TSB needle bearings. Still quiet as a mouse (5100s at 1.75”)

So is the general recommendation to do the TSB and if that doesnt work do the ecgs bushing or just go straight to the bushing?

For $60, I'd just do the bushing instead of having to deal with the headache.

To me the headache would be getting the bushing installed. The dealership hooked me up under warranty with no muss, no fuss.

If it does come back I’ll do the bushing.

Yeah Im tempted to let the dealer do it too. But having to take it there in the morning, get a shuttle ride back home, wait a full day for them to fix it then get a ride back over there is turning me off to the idea when I can knock it out in an hour or two and not have it affect my entire day.

Hey everyone, new guy here. I came across this thread because I've had the same issues and it seems like I may be having it again. Bought the truck Certified pre owned in July 2017 with 22k miles. In January 2018 I took the truck in for a vibration at 28k miles. They performed TSB 0026-15 (FRONT DIFF GROANING/GRINDING CYCLICAL). Replaced needle bearing, seal, and a few other parts associated with it. Now at 30k miles the same rotational noise is back but slightly less severe at before the TSB. Dealer documented noise and tried for a few hours to find a specific cause, but no luck. They said they would call Toyota techs Monday to see where to go from here. Just thought I would add my experience to this thread since it seemed to be pretty active still.

It' crazy how soon these become problematic, just did mine last weekend on my 2013 with just under 45k. That ecgs bushing makes a world of difference.
