Not necessary. Unbolt the LCA from spindle(2 bolts, 19mm). Then pop the CV from axle and use the loose spindle to guide the CV out of the way.

Ohh ok gotcha. Now hopefully i don't have issues separating the CV from the diff. I've seen some people use a steel cable and a hammer to yank it out. I'm assuming you would need to separate the outer CV from the hub in order to do that method, right??

There's a red mark on the CV that if you point down at the 6 position and pry, it pop's right out.

Nice! That pic helps for sure. Good to know that I don't have to pull the tie rod end either, just the two LCA bolts from spindle and looks lik everyhting should move out the way. Did you have trouble seperating the axle from the diff?

Hmm, i've never noticed that before. I'll check mine out when I get home to see if I have that mark. Thanks!

I'm lazy so less to do the better. See my post above in regards to getting the CV out.

One more thing, when reinserting the CV, open end of the c-clip down? or up? i've seen some conflicting stuff on here

It helps to have a pry bar and a big hammer. I didn't have enough leverage with just the pry bar since I didn't lift the truck up high enough so I gently tapped the pry bar end with a hammer and it popped right out.

I don't think it would really matter but I placed the C-clip the same way it came out, open end down. That's why the red mark is there.

I used the ECGS removal tool that's being passed around. I sent to @pg_osborne89 mid this month. He might still have it if nobody else is next in line.

popping The CV out of the diff is more of a proper positioning and finess game than a brute force game. If it isn’t coming out easily try rotating to a different position and try again.

So I put everything back together and the play of the whole CV joint is much better, but the big metal sleeve of the inner cv joint still slides in and out (towards and away from diff) quite a bit. Is that normal?

got mine done today and all vibes gone. pics of the removed factory needle bearing below. im at 58k with 1.75" lift since 5k. noise has been noticeable since about 54k. notice the polished ends between the needles. dealer denied the issue to be covered under tsb-0026-15 stating noise was due to tires. i will be paying them a visit shortly to inform them of the bearing failure and to try to get reimbursed.

If anyone needs the ecgs puller tool I have one to borrow. Just pay shipping. Or buy it for $20.

Hopefully they will come thru for you, but with a 1.75" lift, they may try to deny coverage since it's not factory condition; a lift greatly decreases the amount of miles before failure. I don't think anyone can legitimately deny it doesn't. With 1" lift I was still ok at 115k- the bearing was worn, but no vibration. Good luck!
