    Okay I'm in the process of removing the old needle bearing out to install the ECGS bearing and I can't get it out.

    I built a puller like on page 111.
    In this thread but the plate keeps bending this is 1/4 steel.

    Time to start searching the area for a bearing puller. Might get lucky with harbor freight. I'm sure snap on, matco, or another tool vendor will have them, or just put in an order for the ECGS puller. You could also get lucky and try and post in the local forum to see if any one has one close to you that you could borrow, rent, or buy. I would suggest for any one else doing this to be better prepared in the future by at least having the proper equipment to do the job.

    Wow, I don't think that the bent steel is your problem. I think maybe you are catching on the housing of the diff, which is going to be an immovable object. Maybe check to see that your plates contacting the bearing aren't too large and catching on the housing. Other than that, it looks like a good enough design. I had to keep making minor adjustments to the position of the puller before it finally only made contact with the bearing. You can tell because it should slide out fairly easily.

    I was placing the glued 2 washers in between the first gap that comes.

    Try matching up the size of them to the new bushing and maybe make them a c%&@ hair smaller.

    That plate looks way too long. It needs to be the same width as the bearing and the ends need to match the curve of the bearing.

    An off the shelf puller won't work. You really need the ECGS puller. It's worth the money.

    ^^ For those of you that are trying to do this with washers, it can be done but the hardware store washers are generally too soft. Fastenal often has some harder, stronger washers. I just went into a store and asked for such.

    Holy crap! If your cranking on the nut so hard that it starts bending the plate = you don't have the bearing you have the case as someone suggested. I still haven't done mine but I've researched and watched the video a few times. In the video Chase stops and resets because of this.

    I just got done putting on my All Pro HC rear bumper and hitch on

    Yeah I watched it again and that's what I figured I made a plate more to spec, and gonna get the washers at work(Fastenal) I'll keep everyone updated.

    I want to know the member who built one on page 111. If he ran into any problems.

    ^^ In my case I made a puller in the late fall of 2011 before there was any ECGS stuff and at the time I was going to replace the needle bearing with a needle bearing. But winter set in and delayed my plans a bit. Then the ECGS parts were released and I ultimately used their puller.

    That's cool. Don't get me wrong - it's great being resourceful when needed; and nowadays, maybe $60 is a lot for some.

    Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
    Anyone in the SoCal area got a puller tool I can use? I'm looking at doing this probably this week or next (just picked up a matching set of 4.56s in their carriers for $800, and the old needle bearing is still in there).
