It made the vibration less noticeable but still present. When I checked the play in the cv before and after it did not make much of a difference at all. Everyone says that the bushing took up a lot of play. The wheel bearing is fine. it only does it once and a while between 35-45mph. Also, when i drive for a while like 5 miles or so, it goes away completely. could it need a fluid change? it was pretty black when I installed the bushing

I dont know if that should be considered normal at 7k. I know its a different truck but my Bronco had 170k and it never looked that bad. I wonder if there is a relation ship between it being new and the vibes I was getting. Oh well guess I'll just have to service it more often.

Some how I think I would be ignored.

Oh and if someone out there needs the puller they can use mine. Dont think I'll be needing it anymore.

Just completed doing my second bushing install of the ECGS bushing kit at my shop. This job is SUPER easy. I was quite happy with the parts, as well as the tool, and the ease of communication with the people at ECGS. Every email was responded to within 30 minutes or less. Kudos to those at ECGS for making these things!

i lifted my truck this past weekend with the bilstein 5100's set at 2.5 with the 1.5 AAL. as soon as i was done i drove it around and noticed the vibration in the front. i was very eager to find out the cause of this so this morning at work i put it on the lift put in 4wd and let the truck drive in mid air you can actually see the axle wobble like crazy. my driver side has the most play and the passenger side is just starting. i plan on calling the dealership in the morning to see what they can do about it. it is under toyota's gold warranty that i purchased when i bought the truck due to they were only going to give me a 30 day 3000 mile warranty because its an 05 trd tacoma with 60k. is there anyway i should go about having it fixed like not tell them about the suspension lift and having them figuring it out and argue with them after they find out and try to tell me that they are not going to warranty it? i do believe suspension warranty should be voided since i altered it but the drivetrain was not. any thoughts?

Fix it yourself with the ECGS Bearing. Even if the dealership replaces the diff. The new one will likely face the same fate as Toyota has not addressed the design flaw in them.

Ain't gonna happen. Your options are 1. remove the lift. 2. ECGS bushing 3. front locker

Yeah, I had mine set to .85 and had to have a diff drop kit for them to warranty it. At 1.75, they said they wouldn't cover it. This was a couple years before the bushing. Then a year plus later, I had to replace the bearing again. Next time will be the bushing now that it's available. So don't waste your time with another bearing or new front diff since you'll have to deal with it eventually.

    Hello All,
I have been following this thread closely over the last 18 months. I did end up purchasing and installing the ECGS bushing with great success and satisfaction clearing up the issue on my 2011 Tacoma.

Unfortunately/fortunately  (hahaha) I have been converted to the FJ world, and just recently traded in my Tacoma for a 2014 FJ and I am enjoying it :).
I have searched the FJ forums and have not found much in the way of the same issue as the Tacoma for noise when lifted yet I am aware that they share the same front diff and many other simularities in the suspension.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge on having to install the bushing on an FJ, any noise or complaints of the same issue as the Tacoma?
I would appreciate any feed back on the subject. My 3 inch lift has already been purchased and is ready for installation, just wondering about doing the bushing at the same time.

BTW LR UCA do fit directly from a Tacoma to an FJ just need to change the balljoints!

    Cheers

I'd be curious to know if the new 2015 redesign will have a different front diff. And in my opinion, Toyota is well aware of this issue and every issue with the Tacoma's. They probably have their own team that travel around checking out dealers issues and reported problems. The problem is that if they acknowledge an issue, they have to resolve it.

I noticed in another thread that Toyota is coming out with a new model of Tacoma with a 2" lift. I wonder if they redesigned the front differential for 2015?

What re-design? We've already seen 2015 trucks and they're exactly the same.

Makes me wonder what's different about the front diff if anything. The PRO has a two inch lift. Toyota has to know about the driver's side needle bearing issue. So, what makes them think there's not gonna be issues with stock trucks (PROs)?

It's the same as the current Baja version. I don't know what they have changed to "fix" the problem. I've asked friends that work for Toyota motor sales and they couldn't find anything.

What boosted said, they already have a truck with a lift in front. I highly doubt they changed anything in the differential for those trucks.

I wonder what gives? Is 2" the magic number?

No, non lifted trucks are experiencing this as well. Shitty design of the bearing is to blame.

if its the bearing then why is mine still making noise? Goes away in 4wd. Would dirty fluid make a difference. I have 12000 miles and the fluid was black when i installed bushing from ecgs
