    Vibration only when braking?

Have you looked at the brakes? Are the rotors warped? How do the pads look? The wear pattern can tell you a lot of what is going on.

Do you feel anything in the steering wheel when you feel the "rumble" while braking?

    Keep us posted.

I'm sure you know the ABS feeling but if you are low on fluid or brake pad issues they can turn on randomly.

carrier bearing 1.5 years ago. New brakes & suspension last fall. New lf wheel bearing assembly from nj686. Installed late June...I knew it was going for ~10months. NYS inspection 1/2/14 I was told about play in the hub & it was ok to pass big needed to be replaced soon.

The noise/vibration is a muted & short lived version of driving with a very worn wheel bearing.

Lf bearing replaced @96k under warranty. Then again 195k (nj686's hub assembly).
Rf bearing replaced @146k by dealership @$700.

New Michelin ltx's in July last year. Rotated in march

I really don't know what it is

Oh no vibration in steering wheel. Pads & rotor looked good on drivers side last month. Rotors do. Not feel warped...

when you say new brakes, is that pads and rotors? were the rotors cut?

did you check the RF wheel bearing this time around? You've got 50k on it now.

where does this noise sound like it's coming from and when did it start happening?

pulsating/vibrating through the brake pedal indicates something going on with the brake system or wheel bearing.

hoping we can help you diagnose this problem.

brand new pads & rotors! its very similar to a worn wheel bearing...except, I dont hear it unless i apply the brakes bw 25-35 mph. the rf may be going too...i was hoping id get closer to 90k

other than that annoying noise, I dont know what to do or look for visually.

the only other thing I can think is that the new LF hub/bearing assembly is bad....the noise was quiet but present after the install.....while it has increased a bit over the last month, I dont hear/ feel it getting any worse.

btw, the pedal doesnt pulse....but you can feel the noise in the pedal as you brake....i have a lot more driving to do the next month so ill keep an eye on it

I have all the symptoms described in here except my noise doesn't stop in 4h. Anyone else have a bad needle bearing that's noise didnt go away in 4h? I changed my passenger wheel bearing today with no luck, driver side feels tight.

Both wheel bearings felt tight on my truck until I rebuilt the front end and found that the passenger side was burnt.

The needle bearing in question is in the driver side, was your passenger side wheel bearing bad?

I left out a lot of details.
I thought it was the right wheel bearing, err hoped it was... I replaced the right wheel bearing because some of the noise let up when going around sweeping right turns which unload the right side, in left turns the noise was louder. Plus, 4h did not make the vibs stop.
However, a few weeks ago I put on ome 883 coils for about 1.5" up front and the noise is now louder than before so probably the needle bearing.. I was mainly curious if anyone else had luck with ecgs bushing when 4h didn't stop the noise/vibs, or if I might have bigger issues?

^ Noise going away on the sweeping right turn is also consistent with the needle bearing. And I recall at least one person, maybe two, where it didn't go away in 4Hi but the bushing solved their problems.

Hey guys, is it possible to have this issue with NO LIFT? '05 Tacoma, just went from 265/70-16's to 265/75-16's, but no lift on truck. Noticed the thumping and vibration almost immediately after getting the new tires.

Absolutely. Most tacoma's have the worn needle bearing / cv shaft, but it is not really noticeable until you do something like a front lift. That is why it's so common to see the problem discussed on leveling / lifting forums.

Ok, so is it safe to assume that the bushing from East Coast Gear will remedy the problem? Is it necessary to replace the CV shaft as well?

Here's video of my front end, filmed yesterday, you can hear the clicking at about 20 seconds in. Is this my problem?

Does the sound go away when you shift to 4wheel hi and come back when shifting back into 2wheel hi? If yes, you have it. When I had the "problem" it was a vibration not a clicking sound as you have. As to the CV shift you can check it when you get it out for scoring on the input part of the shaft where it engages the needle bearings.

Yes, it seems to go away when I engage 4H. I also have a noticeable vibration in the wheel that corresponds with the clicking sound in the video. Actually, you can't even hear the clicking in the cab. I only noticed it AFTER I watched the footage from the camera.

Well, I'm buying if anyone has that removal tool they want to sell. OR give me some measurements so I can build one myself for a 1/6th the price.
