Do you have a lift installed? Which shocks did you go with?

Pretty self explanatory, just make sure to torque them to spec and use Loctite where it's needed.

Yeah, if your friend doesn't have a quality spring compressor, borrow one from Auto Zone.

Not sure if he will need one unless he is installing a spacer lift. But still good advice if that is the case. Also do not use harbor freight spring compressors.

When I finally changed my front shocks I took them out, removed the spacer, put them back in and did the shock decompression trick using a floor jack. A little redundant but I think it's faster and safer than a spring compressor.

I got the bilstein front shocks and the bilstein rears. I have the lift on the truck. Do I have to take the spacer out in the front is it hard to put back in never did it before.

Does anyone know if you can use oem Bilstein struts from a x runner on a 09 5 lug? If so what year x runner and can I keep the same springs I have or do I have to change those too?

You can use them, any year will work with 2nd gens. I would recommend going with the XR springs as well.

I was thinking using x runner struts with XII performance springs or should I just use the oem x runner ones? Thanks for the reply.

For lowering the rear do 99-04 leaf springs for a prerunner fit 09 reg cab. And what exactly do you do to those springs to lower the truck?

Ok, I finally switched out the U-bolts. Looks a little better now, huh? BTW, it turns out the correct size is 3 1/4" W x 6 3/4" L .
    Ubolts2Small.jpg
I'm a little confused about the torque settings now, though. The specs that came with my lift kit said 37 ft-lbs. However, I see some chatter on line that this was a Toyota typo and it should have been 73 ft-lbs. I am wondering if this is relative to 6-luggers and if they have thicker u-bolts. I stuck with the 1/2 inch bolts, so 73 seems a little high to me. I think over torquing them could cause them to snap under strain. For the time being, I decided to compromise and set them to 50.

Does anyone know if the body lift for the 6lugs work for the 5lug?
