Jay, I think that's perfect. Remember, it'll be in the 80's at night, so the fire is really for cooking food. I think that'll be fine, but I'm bringing mine as well. We should be okay.

Looks like I'll be getting off work a bit earlier than I expected tomorrow, hope to be on my way around 4:00pm and arrive at the campground no later than 8:00pm. Should still be light enough outside to spot the SD crew that should already be at camp. I'll be traveling alone, as my buddy couldn't get off work until 6:00pm which was too late for me to leave.

If all else fails, I'll just get on my PA and yell "RAPE!" over an over until somebody finds me :D

    Lots...see build
Having been down diablo drop-off in my mostly stock 92 pickup, i can tell you that it's a bit of an adrenaline rush, but I would say definitely doable in a stock vehicle. The bottom's worse than the drop off, though. That's where I got my inspiration for purchasing sliders...but you won't get any body damage if you drive it well and with a good spotter (I didn't have any damage).
Do it if you feel like it! Heart attack hill, on the other hand, definitely scares the sh*t out of me and I've never even been out there, just seeing the youtube vids is enough.

I'd be going out there with you guys if I wasn't already doing a trip to Valley of the Moon/elliot mine this weekend! Beautiful place

Sorry you can't make this one Chris. We'll definately get together on another run soon.

Suggestion for everyone: No big secret but it totally helps. Whenever its gonna be hot or several days without available ice. I take a larger cooler and stuff the bottom with frozen water bottles, just the regular little guys, I use like a dozen or so depending on room. I also like to use one big one. I freeze them at home and since they are sealed they last a lot longer than blocks, and they are free. Fill cooler with those plus already cold beer and top off with ice and it lasts for days.

Good call, Tyler. I'm gonna freeze some up tonight for the cooler, and just get ice on the last stop out there and throw it over the beers and sandwiches.

I can't wait for this trip. Just what I've needed after working 8 months no vacation...

Got home at 5:30, been in the garage until now...oil change, tire rotation, drained my power steering reservoir and refilled with lucas stop leak (fixed the squealing), made a 2 hour trip to Wal-Mart for food, water, beer, and rubber floor mats. Put the windows on the Bestop, and invented a mosquito net covering for it so I don't burn up in there with the windows up and still be protected from the big bad bugs. Still doing laundry...

Been an eventful evening...should be off just after lunch tomorrow, meeting up with Michael (AMG4LIFE) and then it's mob-town to oc-town! :mudding:

    See you guys there :D
