No apologies necessary. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Best of luck, thoughts, prayers, the force or whatever One believes in.

Back on topic. If going to use an auto wash then touch less is the way to go. I would recommend getting a good sealant or ceramic coating on the truck.

Ceramic coating is not yet available in Winnipeg,Manitoba.Canada. Ming auto detailing here in Winnipeg has a coating called Diamond Kote they say it is the toughest right now. They claim no wax necessary for 5 years they spray it on then buff it when it is dry to harden it $450 canadian.

Not familiar with that particular product. I would recommend searching the internet to see what you can find out about it.

    Edit: Check this out

    http://rebirthdetailing.ca/services/paint-coatings/

They offer 2 different ceramic coatings.

My old man had it put on his Toyota Venza 4 years ago and still good he doesn't wax and the water still beads off no wipe down and no water spots either.Uv protectants as well. I know people that have had it done and no problems. I might have to ask my brother in law about the ceramic coat he has been doing autobody for 30 yrs. if it is in canada he will know.My old man said ceramics is some pretty tuff shit and I would like the toughest.

Before the winter apply a quality sealer or coating on your truck then hand wash the truck only. NEVER run it through any kind of car wash. The reasoning being that their soaps will strip the sealer you put on right off, leaving you with no protection. Coatings are more resistant to that but most people don't want to blow the coin on a ceramic coating.

What I do living in the north is wash on those random days that get into the 40's or take it to a car wash with the wash bays and blast the truck with plain warm water to get the salt off. I just don't wash the truck in the winter very much.

You want a quality product on the outside to protect the paint and then just take care to keep salts off the paint when you can.

I do not know too much about it but what I noticed on my new Tacoma was the clear film on the rockers, and smaller strips on the body in front of the wheels and behind. It is a good idea for abrasion resistance from sand, gravel, mud etc.It does come in some various colors and they say it is pretty tough.Good way to protect paint and clear coat.Pretty expensive though if you are wrapping whole hood or fenders.I have heard of people doing a whole vehicle for a color change and I would hate to see the price.Higher end detail shops say 5-10 year warranty on it depending on driving conditions.Another guy just the other day on TW site gave me a good sight to look at ceramic coatings and the film.So if you want to have a look google rebirth detailing.

I had it on a previous truck and I will never get it again.

It looks like crap over time and is nearly just as much maintinence as caring for your paint. It also costs as much to do the front end of the truck as it does to ceramic coat the whole truck.

It looks dull and scratches over time so its obvious you have the film.

It came on my truck from factory.Would you remove it if you bought a new truck and it had it on there?I thought it might be good but I don't like the looks of it. My eyes always focus on those spots when I look at the truck.

Also did you remove it yourself or have it professionally removed?

looks good something to consider if the truck ever started to rust years down the road. Must have cost a fortune though. I wonder if it would pop off if rust ever started from the inside out.

Do you mean the clear bra film on the rocker panels on the bed panel and rear flares?

I had mine professionally removed this weekend. I hate that film. Truck looks great without it.

Yes exactly I do not care for it either. It is like a magnet my eyes always look at those areas first.I will take it in to rebirth detailing and have them remove it.What did u pay to have it removed? My new hemi truck I bought 13 years ago never had it and never had any problems in those areas.
