Thanks for the kind words! I love to help but I cannot take credit for starting that thread. It was someone else but I love keeping it going. Anyone feel free to PM or post up if you need some help.

Lots of good info here but I have a quick question: If i use the Meguirs ColorX as a polish, should I still wax after. I was reading up one the ColorX and it says that it works as both a wax and a polish. After applying ColorX is it still necessary to wax? Thanks

After you apply the colors, let it sit a day. Then either wipe down the truck with a mf towel or hose it down to get any dust/dirt off. Then hit it with some gold class wax.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the advice. Why let it sit before the wax?

This is nothing official, it I's just something I have found using that type of product. I find letting a wax sit a day (well really like 12hrs) gives the first layer time to 'cure' before adding another layer of a different product. Just in case.

I've had my MGM Tacoma for two weeks now and I gave it it's first wash. I never thought I'd ever say this but it was actually fun. I enjoyed making my new truck look even better. My question is, when should I put it's first coat of wax on? I have Meguiers (sp?) NXT 2.0 that I want to use. I remember my Dad telling me that a car needs wax when the water doesn't "bead" up very much when you wash it. Is that at all true? My truck wasn't that dirty and water beaded so I'm not sure when to proceed. I'm not so worried about the work of it; I just want to know if it needs wax from the start? Any thought would be greatly appreciated and thanks for already giving me a bunch of information!

I would wax as soon as you want. It is true what you dad said about the beading. After a rain storm is a great time to see the beads. Be careful using that nxt around the trim. Stains like a mofo. Use painters tape on the trim to protect it. Or get a wax that does not stain.

This will be my first time waxing a car so I appreciate the heads up on the trim. I've been using the "Search" to try and learn from others mistakes. Is there a non-staining wax that you would sugguest? I'm not wed to any particular product but did like some of the reviews on the NXT.

I hate these 2nd gen seats! Every time I look at the seats I see more stains. Stuff is staining them that I didn't know could stain. What would you suggest for getting rid of these stains and protecting the seats against future stains?

NXT is a good wax, nice shine and long lasting. If you have the wax already, use it. Once you tape a few times it is real quick. If not, then there are tons of options. If you want to stay OTC then Gold Class is nice and easier on the trim. If you want to order something, pm me as I am on my itouch. Easier to give links.

As for the seats, Woolite OxyClean and Scotchgaurd Auto for the interior, 2x applications. Every year.

I looked at the product recommendations on page 1 , but let me put it to you this way , " What wax would you recommend that is retard-proof for a guy that has never waxed a single vehicle he has ever owned in his life ? "

I am in love with my Tacoma and want to keep it looking top notch , but I have never done anything beyond washing any of my previous vehicles .

    Thanks in advance .

First thread and new 2011 tacoma owner.

I've read this thread over fairly well and have done some research. I'm wondering if anyone has come across best all around kits. That includes - polish, clay bar, sealer and wax. And maybe interior protectant and scotch guard.

What I've found and am wondering if this will get me started. I was thinking of getting -
    1. Optimum Car Care sample kit ( 4oz of each - Car wash, car wax, protectant plus, and tire shine) comes with 16 x 16 inch Optimum Microfiber Towel.
    2. Meguiars scratch x 2.0 polish
    3. optimum opti spray sealer
    4. Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Bar Replacement 3 Pack (use car wash concentrate as lube)
    5. 303 fabric guard

Just looking for bare minimum. Because I can imagine buying all this stuff and maybe using it once a year besides wash and wax maybe. Any thoughts??? Also don't have a machine orbital fyi - not looking to get one either. Thanks so much for listening.

Also, if I wash my brand new truck and it has a smooth finish should I clay before doing everything else?
