Yes I saw the flex but never heard of it or the brand so I kinda turned away from that one. But does ur PC do everything you need it to? Buffing, polishing and waxing wise?

It does everything quite well. I am very happy with it.

The Flex is a nice upgrade from the PC. You might want to look at Rupes as well. I recently purchased a Rupes and could not be happier with it. You are welcome to come over and try it out anytime. I caught a nice sale in December at AG and the Rupes was 23% off with free shipping.

Just remembered, I have a friend in Michigan that has the Flex and wants to upgrade to a Rupes. He does a lot of work in the spring, summer. and fall to provide extra income for his family.

 

Yeah both of them look nice and the price isn't too big of a difference. I was looking at getting the started pack that you can choose what pads you want

 

I will tell you it is an addictive hobby.

 

I have a PC and like it okay. Had it for a while now, but as I learned more about detailing, I wish I would have gotten the Flex 3401. The Flex is faster compared to the PC. Plus seems to be a smoother operating machine. Save your $$$ and get a Flex.

The Porter Cable has suited my needs very well for the past couple years. I only use it on two or three vehicles (spring and fall details). I think the PC is an excellent starter machine. Technique is the most important aspect of polishing paint. If you do go that route make sure you choose lots of 5.5" x 7/8" low profile pads. I like Lake Country Hydrotechs and Wolfgang Polishes.

 

So I let my dad borrow my truck for the day. It was pretty filthy because of the rain this past month. Anyways when I got it back I noticed it had been wiped down. I have a BLACK truck, so i know that a proper wash is a must when it's dirty. Safe to say my truck is pretty much swirled up. Not gonna lie I was pretty irritated. I put alot of pride of trying to minimize swirl marks as much as i can via the two bucket wash, microfiber towels etc. So I guess I'll be buying a polisher soon as well.

 

Ahhhh!!! I feel your pain! It was a suicidal duck and an unpredictable sprinkler that started me down this path of OCD insanity.

 

Prolly already been talked about but don't feel like reading the while 75 pages. What is the best way to remove trail pinstripes?

 

If they aren't too deep I think a good buff and polish might do it.

Did you pick a machine, yet?

 

So I found a shop nearby that let's people rent out polishers for a week at a good price. They have griots, porter cables and flex polishers. Which should I choose? This will be my first time polishing as well. my truck has some waterspots and swirl marks. Want one that's beginner friendly but will also get the job done. Time is also not an issue. Thanks guys.

 

FLex would be my choice only because I have never used one but have heard a lot of good comments from persons I know that have one. I have a GG and an older PC. Both of them work very well and are very forgiving.

 

Go with the Flex 3401 or the PC.
