I've got Katzkin leather seats with white TRD embroidered logos on the seatbacks. They are about two years old now and the white thread embroidery is getting a little dingy. I use Lexol to clean and condition the leather and try to steer clear of the logos as best I can. What would be the best cleaner/method to clean up this white thread? Thanks in advance.

Try using fabric/upholstery cleaner with a SOFT haired brush to work it in and clean out the dirt. Then use a clean microfiber to dab it dry.

You might want to try Folex cleaner. Available at Home Depot or Lowes. Using the soft hair brush and absorbent microfiber towel to blot it out is the way to go.

You need more cutting power than a PC can provide. If I were to buy a machine today, it would 100% be a Flex. I am a reseller for Adams Polishes. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions [up]

I love this polisher. It is tough as balls we used it at the shop I worked at for over 2 years and then I got it when they got a new one that wasn't beat up.

Then I would grab some 3m polishes/pads from here. http://3mcollision.com/products/buffing-and-polishing
I really like this stuff because it is pretty simple to use and gives you a lot of variety in what you can do. Colour matched pads means it's simple to keep track of what your using too.

For trail rash I would use the white cut polish then the blue swirl remover to flatten out the scratches. I've done the same thing on my truck and my dads black ram and it worked great. I bet you could get away with just the swirl remover even because it's a white truck.

It's a bit of cash but it will last forever so I think it's worth it.

Yes the Makita 9227c is a nice rotary however all direct drive rotary polishers are not as user friendly as a DA machine. You will remove defects in a hurry but it takes practice to be able to finish hologram free.

I was recently moving, and because it was raining, I used a tarp. Bad move. It did this to my paint afterwards. I'm not sure if it's under the clear coat or not. What would you recommend? A polish? ScratchX?

That is really minor. Grab some off the shelf polishing compound and a fine polish to finish. Should be no issue at all, even by hand.

    Way back to the OP...

followed your methods, used more or less all the maguires products.

just finished my first detail on a two week old truck.

    it looks AMAZING!

Thank you so much for the detailed description and suggestions.

I had been doing this all wrong on my previous vehicles, great to get this one right.

    Thank you!

    Hear, hear!

Kudos to the OP and all the subsequent contributors. This thread has been like a college-level course in auto detailing. I've learned a lot and applied a lot of it successfully.

Triple dancing tacos to you, my friends!

if you're able to accomplish polishing finish results by hand you're either superman or the product you're using is full of fillers.

I DL'ed the pics, and processed. All of that is scuffing on the clear. No tarp is going to get into the clear. Just my opinion.

So I used some new finish on my truck and got some on the black plastic trim. Anybody have a good way to get it off?
