Pulled the trigger on the Bigfoot 15 yesterday and pads. Now to look into a wax, polish and other things to do my vehicles. Saved a lot with the discount.

I used my bigfoot on a tough sanding job yesterday. Had to order a new backing plate last night. Cost was over $30 with the discounts. Now I have a sanding backplate.

Machine worked really well as a sander.

 

So after a couple of months of research and being busy with work, I've finally decided on my 1 step paint correction process and products.

It will be as follows:
Wash/decontaminate:
2 bucket wash w/ megs gold class
Quick dry with waffle weave MF
Iron X
Megs clay bar

Polish:
Rupes 15 w/ Rupes yellow pads
Sonax perfect finish
Re-wash
LSP:

This will be my first time using a polisher to correct my paint. Wish me luck. It's all going down this Thursday. I'll post pics when I'm done.

I have, and use, Pinnacle Souveran, Wolfgang Fuzion, and Do Do Juice Purple Haze and like all three of them. They are still rather expensive but the savings are pretty decent.

 

Nice, just washed today, but I definitely need to clay and polish so I'll see how this goes.

 

Anyone ever heard of an old school wax called rain dance? And what's best to apply wax-i have a foam applicator pad or microfiber?

The rain dance wax says if you apply pressure it'll remove some road grime

I'm no expert, but I used Rain Dance back in the day with what I thought were good results. However, I'm certain there are many, many products better now. It does remove grime, but I believe pretty much all the waxes will. I use Meguiar's products now and love the results. I'm not willing to pay for boutique waxes, so Meguiar's fits the bill for me.

I use the foam pad and the orbital buffer/waxer (not a polisher, much lower speed) to apply the wax and microfiber to take it off.

 

I just found a closed package of the rain dance wax my dad had from way back so I figured I'd use it

 

How old is the product? Give it a good shaking. It may have lost some of its effectiveness.

 

Me too. I spoke too soon. The machine I wanted to rent out was already in use. So I had to wait. And this week I'm pulling in a lot of overtime at work. So my project will have to wait for a little bit. It will be done though. Mark my words. Haha.

I have a quick question, Does Target still sell the Vroom microfiber clothes? I stopped today and did not see any Vroom labeled products. They had some that were labeled MYRide or something like that.

The microfiber towels at Target are decent for general cleaning unless they sell the Megs towels. The megs towels are fine for wax and polish removal as well as buffing.

What do you need to do with the microfiber towels?

 

Hey Tom, or anyone who can assist with this question, have you ever tried microfiber discs/pads? There somewhat new and I've done a little reading up on them, but not specifically regarding wax removal. I understand there a little more aggressive than standard foam pads for paint correction, but was curious if microfiber towels are the standard for removing wax, how the MF pads would be for removing freshly applied, dried wax (not old wax). With a D/A, that is.
Any and all input appreciated.

I used these pads for polishing and they works great. I will be working on the wife's car next week and will try them on a paint that needs a lot more correction than the truck.

 

No need for a link, those are the pads I'm considering, lol (I have the Rupes Duetto). Have their green & yellow pads now, but am considering their white finishing foam pad or the yellow MF pad, like you linked, for the wax removal. What do you think?
Heard good things about Meg's MF pads also.
