The headlight lens is toast. Took it up to 3000 grit, buffed and buffed and buffed but those mini hazing cracks are in there for good. I learned my lesson though, not to toy with strong solvents on potentially sensitive materials.

    Thanks for the input guys.

A pic would be helpful here.

Without access to a random orbital buffer I would:
    1. Wash
    2. claybar
    3. Mothers OTC product. 4. Seal with Megs
    5. 2 coats of your favorite wax.

Yes it will. You will need to clean under the hood first and let if dry.

303 works great on seals for the door.

Has anybody heard of or had the product TST paint protection done to their vehicle:confused: its suppose to last at least 5 yrs & you never have to wax your truck. I'm having it done to my new truck so I'm just curious?

Who is doing the install? Is the dealer you bought the truck from? If so make sure you don't have to take it back for additional applications at YOUR expense. I bet you have to go back and schedulemto have it reapplied.

95SLE...just bought a 2007 Scion for my son. Black Sand Pearl. It only has 50K but the paint's a little rough, especially the hood. I've got a polisher and clay bar and all different kinds of wax, but nothing special for black paint yet. Got some thoughts about how I should initially treat this car to maximize its potential?

I would suggest wash, clay, wash, polish (depending on condition either a one step to freshen or full on 3 step for neglected paint), wash yet again, then your favorite sealant (I prefer jet seal, two coats), and then top coat with your favorite wax. For bsp, dodo juice purple haze works very well for a mid price wax otherwise Wolfgang fusion and black fire black ice for high price. Or just use a wax you might already have. Just take your time and plan to devote the better part of a weekend to get it done.

Another thing to remember is to use a stripping type wash for the washes so you aren't putting the wax on while you are trying knock down to clean and polish. Something like chemical guys citrus wash or similar. It just makes it a bit easier to strip off the old waxes and coatings.

I like the wax products recommended. I have never used jet seal but it does get good reviews. Polishes are very personal in that you need to find a polish company you feel that work best for you. In most cases polishes end up costing more than the wax. I personally like the Menzerna line of polishes and have stopped looking for a better polish.

I would start with Menzerna Super Intensive polish with an orange pad for the first pass then follow up with Menzerna Micro polish again with an orange or white pad. If the spider webbing is really bad you might want to start with SIP and a yellow pad.

Thoughts on chemical guys or shine supply products ? Figured I'd order a pretty decent at home detailing kit and try it out. Foam cannon, buckets, lot of micro fibers, and some good products both companies seem to have good reviews.

I've just about switched solely to CG products. After working with Wolfgang, pinnacle and others.
