So tempted to just go to Black Mountain if it's just going to be two of us at Blue Holler. I've never been but don't really want to drive down there for one day only. Are you still working that weekend?

@Bluegrass Taco what are your plans for next weekend?

Still working Friday night, I get off either 130am or 430am TBD. If no one goes to Blue Holler I'm heading to Harlan. Two of the three guys I know well, never wheeled with any of them. They take it pretty easy though. The TJ has 35s, no gears, and a four banger, the dude in the JK is disabled and always plays it safe he says. Funny story, I invited the TJ to Harlan with us because he lives near by, he invited the JK, who is his brother, and the JK opened the event on CKYO lol. Still a chance my wife's cousin will come down too but probably not

Screw it we're going to Black Mountain!! Are they camping or is it a day run only? The Facebook group doesn't specify just says the 12th.

JK is camping i think, I'm not. I still vote BH since it's close, I'm definitely going to Harlan this spring/summer for camping though.

I've been working 16 hour days this past week and once I get home, it's eat, shower and straight to bed. Haven't been keeping up with this thread.

I'm still planning on going....maybe heading up into Indiana THIS weekend to hit Badlands with a bunch of Central Indiana guys from Expedition Portal...May be dragging a few of them along with me to Blue Holler! 4-Runners and a brand new Tundra if they make it. The guy with the Tundra says he isn't afraid of scratches on ATV trails, so.....

.As bad as I want to go to Harlan again, the timing just doesn't work out. I'm trying to get a vacation day for that Sunday, and if THAT happens, I'm all in for Harlan. Otherwise, Blue Holler it is. That's about 3 hours each way quicker than Black Mountain. The drive home is the hard part....I leave for work @ 4:30AM. Last trip, I got less than 4 hours sleep that night. My old ass can't do that very often.

The wife has informed me I do not like camping in cold weather. Good to know that.... I'm doing some horse trading so I end up with a really nice Coleman pop-up camper. Guess that'll wait until next summer.

I think I mentioned it a while back, but my assistant here at work is undergoing chemo for lung cancer and isn't able to make it to work every day. I've already had plans sacked several times to cover for him. And that's why the 16 hour days. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes...........This may change any plans I make.

There's no way you WON'T like a locker! I played around with mine while we were @ Harlan last month. Nothing that would really put it to the ultimate test, but enough to see the difference between locked and not locked....From what I saw in that video, you just gotta keep your tires blow up and you'll be golden!

I'm good with that. Next trip to Harlan, I want more than a few hours. We spent about 6 hours on the trails after the drive down, then the LONG drive home. When it was all over, we spent almost 10 hours on the highway. I'd much prefer to have 2 days (at least) to explore a little more. I've got a list of 23 names of people who want to go, but just can't this time of the year. And by spring, I'll have a few more things done to my truck. I have a $2500 bonus check due in Jan. ALL of that is going to be spent on the Tacoma. (New suspension, sliders, winch, winch mount, etc.....)

Hey there I posted in the western KY thread also but here it is. The wife and I are relocating to Kentucky in a few years, been looking at Madisonville area. She will be retiring and I'll be looking for something in construction or heavy equipment. Any info or thought would be appreciated. We don't want city living.

Welcome when you get here! If the EPA/current administration doesn't completely kill the coal industry, you shouldn't have to look too far for a job as an operator. Many coal operations all over the state. You'll also find Kentucky has an abundance of good off road opportunities. Land Between The Lakes, Black Mountain, Red River Gorge area, and dozens of smaller private off road parks.

While you're there, I'll be playing Santa Claus at a childrens Christmas part where I work. I get free drinks (Santa LOVES bourbon) and $300 for 4 hours of spoiled little brats pulling on my fake beard.
