I am, moving from the northernmost part of Berea to basically in town. (Older established neighborhood). The community has some crazy restrictions but then again everything looks crazy nice so it is what it is. The garage and huge porch make up for it and I'm a neat freak by nature.

I get paid Wednesday, debating pulling the trigger on some 4x sliders. He ever have any discounts or free shipping options anytime?

I've heard of the 5%, if he does 10% I'd probably grab some.

I do XRay (Cross Training in MRI to be certified by next July) at an outpatient center here for the University of Kentucky. I have a piece of cake job 9-5 (Off Holiday's and weekends). We have 2 MRI tech's here and 1 of them is possibly leaving in the near future. Which means, I'm going slide into that position in the future when she accepts and gets her new position going or I can basically get referred to the main UK hospital right now and move to 2nd shift. This meaning that my pay increases right at the start, I get more experience to be certified, but my shift is 2nd Mon-Fri or I can choose 3rd shift weekends. Basically which decision sounds better from your past experiences? Stay where I have it made and wait till the other MRI tech accepts her new role or go across campus where I'm guaranteed to start now, but give up the cake I have, to hopefully coming back when her position here opens up.

Take into consideration I'm a single man, no kids, but who doesn't loving have free time every weekend.

I work a rotating schedule, every 3 months. I work Monday-Wednesday and every other Sunday 0545-1930 and then I flip to night shift on the same schedule 1745-0730. Then I go back to days on the weekend 0545-1930 Thursday-Saturday and every other Sunday and I rotate to that night shift. It provides 24/7 coverage 365 days a year. (No one understands my schedule). Anyway, I said all that to say this. Nights are awesome... and horrible. For example. I flipped back to a day shift routine last weekend so I could go to my wife's graduation and spend time with her on mothers day. Slept 3 hours yesterday, worked 13 hours and came home this morning, slept 4 hours and woke up to meet with our realtor to get our house on the market, take pictures ect... I have to be at work in less than 2 hours. Fuck nights. Stay where you are. Enjoy your life, work with people you know. UK is huge, there will be other opportunities if you feel like you WANT to try nights or a different department out. My brother in law is a RN at UK and was stuck as a pool/poll??? Nurse for a long time. He made a ton of money but hated the hours (3rd). Now he's on day shift and works the same unit daily (post op) and he loves it. Night shift will fuck up your sleep, your free time, your happiness and your physical fitness. There are parts I love about night shift but if I could take a fixed day shift schedule I would in a heartbeat, even at the cost of night diff.

Thanks for the input. I've worked nights before and it was ok (For reasons such as the boss isn't there, you work on your own pace, etc.) Which is kind of what I do here on 1st shift as well. With that being said, it'd probably be the 2nd shift I took if I did take it (2nd shift sucks enough too).

Things change in time. Always does. However, it seldom changes when you want it to. If you see issues with working weekends now, it will be a real buzz kill a few years down the road. Also, some day there might be a woman in your life. How will the weekend work schedule fit in there? I work weekends and it sux.

In the end, you have to do what has the best chance of yielding a happy life.

Which one will afford you more room to grow in the future, and how soon will you be able to grow. Could you be on the weekend job for 10 years, or closer to 2-3 and moving into something else? Does the weekend job have perks such as a major increase in pay, working 30 and getting paid for 40, etc? I know at our hospital the weekend shift is Friday/Saturday, but you get paid for working 3 days (12 hour shifts which equate to 13 hour shifts), so you work two days but get paid 40 hours. That means you have 5 days off a week, and a set schedule. The downside is, the majority of the free world works M-F, so to plan anything with people, you're limited on time. In my experience, the grass is always greener on the other side. I've also regretted not taking jobs that could have challenged me and increased my knowledge/experience which would help me get a better job in a short amount of time. You have to weigh all of the options, not just when you'll be working, but how it will pan out in the long run as well. Sometimes it's better to suffer a little now to make it way easier later.

House is sold, 18 hours on the market and we got a cash offer for 1,000 less than listing. Time to find a place to live for a week! And... a good floor epoxy kit.
