Nobody in lexington was ever competent enough to touch my truck
And seems like the people I picked haven’t been stellar either

Yeah I just couldn’t think who you would have used. Lol I lived in Winchester for years and worked in Lex. The only people I used in Lex was a powder coating place. They did pretty good work for me.
I hope you get the truck back on track it is a great foundation. I guess worse comes to worse you can part it out and count it a lesson learned.

Yeah that super sucks dude. For a while there it looked like it was and was gonna be kick-ass.

Steel prices should come back down, still really pricey here tho...

    Well it wasn't me!!
I also don't think I'd work on peoples shit now that I'm here, not enough money in it.
Even tho I keep buying equipment:bananadead:

Bent Fab does some really neat stuff, but hes pretty picky about what jobs he'll do and how much to charge, and is kinda why I decided to start buying up my own shit... Theres another guy up in Independence who does stuff on word of mouth only, has all the toys, he supports a bunch of ultra4 trucks and a few of them have done well in KOH, definitely more a fab guy than a design guy tho.

Theres a couple back yard guys popping up now too, probably not qualified to build a race truck; and they are facebonk crowd so I avoid them at all costs.

I briefly worked for a buggy OEM and built a few buggies in college before deciding it was better to make good money doing boring work than shit money doing interesting work.

Hey all, visiting Lexington from Texas and was thinking of taking the following trail from 3330 to Shumaker Ridge Trail, down to Hells Creek and out at Holly Rd. Is this doable in a stock 4x4 OR? Was thinking of also going down Bald Rock Fork.

Will be there Sunday to Thursday. Any other cool things to do in Red River Gorge area will be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I was doing some reading and this is what I read. Is the Hell Creek you're talking about the same or different? If it's too difficult, I'll most likely just stick to Larison Road, Cave Fork Road, and Bald Rock Fork.

You'll have to wait for others to chime in. I'm usually riding passenger so not 100% sure. You can get yourself in some bad spots out there if you don't know before you go.

Plenty to explore in a stock rig though.

Just pulled it up on Google Maps and compared it to some GAIA points I have. The area I'm familiar with is Walker Creek and there's some spots out that way you can find some trouble. Can't remember much about Hell Creek Rd though. Looks like an easy gravel FS road on the Google machine.

    Lemme take a peek.

@bboyh5 if it's what Brent thinks it is, you absolutely do not want to go alone. Let alone if you're locked F/R, armored, winch, tires, etc. In fact, try to never wheel alone in unfamiliar territory.

I think it was Cowan Creek that we spent like 10 hours on to go 5 miles. Maybe Hell, maybe Hell for Certain.

Did it look like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuvjfiFtay0 I'm pretty sure I won't be doing this :) I definitely won't be looking to do any wheeling.

Yeah that's it. Video doesn't show the shitshow slick hill climb with rock ledges and mud a ways after the waterfall.
If you don't want to "wheel", stick to the DBBB

I did the Hell Creek Rd and Lairson to Fixer to Bald Rock Fork Rds. They were pretty easy but fun and had some creek crossings and inclines. Wife and our friends enjoyed the ride lol. Probably will have to come back in the fall for the foliage colors cause the scenery looks awesome!

Do we have any reputable Chevy rebuild shops in KY?
My Silverado needs a DOD delete and a new cam

My fiancé's ex is looking for the same thing on his GMC bro-truck with a super neat block/spacer lift from the dealer, you know the trucks. If he's found one, I'll let you know, but it'll be way over this way and south I'm sure.

Idk if these folks will do it, given the EPA smack-down on the diesel delete stuff, but they may. Several people speak highly of them for the domestic coal rollers. Maxxed Out Performance in Catlettsburg, KY They don't have a real website, sorry. Should be a tech there by the name of Parker who's knows his shit

DOD in this case is on a gas motor not a diesel

    from what I’ve read
Chevy put them DOD system in a ton of their motors and it basically universally goes south at 100k miles
I’m surprised it’s not a more common job in Kentucky since everyone and their mother owns a Chevy truck here

Dropping cylinders on the highway is a common thing on the larger displacement V8s.
