I can still remember the first time I walked into the shop.

The term 'candy shop" comes to mind.

Tank range at Knox is only a stones throw away.

That was a pretty cool moment for us who work at Jim Beam.

As for the Bean comment, I’ve worked there for almost 16 years now and I still have people call it Jim Bean. I’m tired of correcting them at this point.

My house is strategic ally located between Bardstown (bourbon capital of the universe) Ft. Knox, Churchill Downs, (and all the stuff that goes with theeDerby) Valhalla Golf Club, 90 minutes to Red River Gorge (4wd epicenter of the east) Mammoth Cave close by, and more. It's not a bad location . Best part, the small town we live in, we'll, it's still 1965....

Is anybody going to the DBBB meet-up this weekend? I'm not sure what to expect, but I've been wanting to explore the area ever since I moved here. Hopefully it'll get my foot in the door.

    I
I wish I was going....Health issues keeping me home....

So far, no one has ever been left in the woods...Everyone will be helpful and you probably won't be the only one there for the first time. Most off roaders love being the "tour guide" and showing the trails to someone new. Go...enjoy.

I'm in MT. Washington...just north of Bardstown.. Im battling cancer and not able to do much...but I will be doing a day trip to RRG to run Spaas Creek (easy trail) on a Saturday as soon as I can round up some others... I have to keep it simple and easy.

I've been off roading nearly 50 years and want to go (at least) one more time

    You basically found it...

I think we are all a lot less active than we had been, most of the organized group rides now are advertised here but are done by local offroad groups.

:hattip: been a while ladies n germs!

Spotted a 2nd gen white double cab behind the judicial building/courthouse in Inez, had a front plate bumper and roof rack or light bar at least. Wouldn't mind finding folks to wrench and wheel with locally since moving down here in August 2021.
Several other mild built trucks seen daily across all gens I've seen in Martin, Johnson, Floyd, Pike, and Knott county's. Most my time is spent in Floyd, Johnson, and Pike. Of course, I'm not in mine because I'm lazy AF and not changed my clutch yet :D 4 months after it grenaded...

Hope everyone is still doing the best life allows!!

Well I’m from Martin co (not that I tell anyone) I currently live in Floyd co and still have family in Martin. I don’t know any great shops over there there is a place in Prestonsburg that lifted my sons truck and did a pretty good job on it. I have been thinking I would just lift it myself and have an alignment done.

I'll trade ya; I'll assist you with your lift (long as it isn't a drop-bracket) and you assist me with my clutch install? Really, just the part where it takes more than 2 hands on the transmission out/in part.
I also live in Floyd Co, work in Prestonsburg now. Only thing I'll let another person do is ECU stuff beyond my tools and knowledge and gear set-up, but there's a shop right down from my office that advertises lifts called "Solar Control Plus" but they seem to advertise tint and generic bolt on parts more than anything else.

Yeah that’s who put the lift on my sons truck. The guys did a fairly good job with the lift but they are definitely not a custom fab shop. Give me a shout and if we can get our schedule lined up I will give you a hand. The last clutch I changed was on my 72 f100 and I basically bench pressed it in place. I don’t have any help either. My son just isn’t mechanically inclined. I have been making him change his own oil and minor stuff.

Absolutely! Happy to help if I know what I'm doing for sure!
That shop was one place I'd check on getting my alignment done at, I suck adjusting the SPC uppers

Anyone here have any gmrs experience? Looking at getting a vehicle mounted setup. Specifically interested in the midland micro mobiles types (size, style etc) but have concerns about the ranges. Seems like they go from 15 watts and readily available to 50 watts and good luck finding one. Obviously, 50 watts will reach out further but my only uhf/vhf experience is limited to 12 years of airport ops where equipment is preprogrammed and company provided, so I don’t have real/normal world experience with them.

Anyone used a 15 watt one? Range ok for real world usage? Regrets, insights, thoughts, provocations?

Edit: Should mention, down the road, I am looking to get into ham. Still got a lot to learn before I make that jump though. I am aware there is some cross over on frequencies, range is far superior with less wattage due to how it transmits (queue my headache) and that it’s just a learning process. Take the leap. I know. Until then, trying out gmrs

My truck sold in 2 days at Greens. Someone got one of the nicest, best maintained rigs money can buy.

I know it's a long shot. But I wonder if it was anyone here?
