OK! Anyone interested in Oct 24th, Black Mountain (Harlan Ky)????? So far, I'm all the way up to TWO of us. This will be a scouting trip as much as anything. Gonna do the easy trails. I'm told the "green trail" is roughly 15 miles long, is mild enough that stock vehicles have absolutely NO trouble navigating it, and there's a lot of tougher stuff just off these trails that anyone can go through, or go around. I've got one "commit" in a totally stock Tacoma. A couple more "possibles" that are mostly stock. Goal is to scout out this place for a future run with more vehicles, get a few "stockers" on the trails, and to get a few Kentucky TW'ers together. Anyone interested, PM me OR respond to this thread. With or WITHOUT more involved, there will be at least two of us on the trails on Saturday, Oct 24th. Join us!

I would say I'm 15-85, attending, not attending Harlan lol. If my plans to attend AOP the weekend before fall through I'll try to make Harlan.

Really trying to get out more so hopefully I can manage both trips.

I'll nail down the timing thing as we get a little closer. Plan as of now is to leave Louisville area around 6AM. I'm open to everyone's thoughts as we go along. If that timing doesn't work, let me know. Nothing is carved in stone.

Spent the afternoon at Blue Holler Offroad Park in Mammoth Cave. Wasn't too impressed really. Very few trails are marked, none have difficulty ratings. Bought a "map" that was nearly useless. I covered most of the park in a couple hours and spent a lot of time in 2wd.

They had a SRRS event and a $10k bounty hill yesterday. The bounty hill was ridiculous, not sure if anyone made it up but I doubt it.

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon, just wasn't too impressed.

Well....so much for my next trip..... My wifes family is from that area. We used to spend a lot of time on fire roads looking for a couple cemetaries in the area. We were thinking of hitting Blue Holler just for schidtts and giggles. Someone else told me it was a cool place to go when there was snow on the ground.

It was super dry due to no rain lately and the thousands of people out there for the big events. If that place was muddy or snowy it would be much more interesting, and probably sketchy, with all of the hills. It's way better than driving around Mammoth Cave looking for the cemeteries. I did that before going to the park lol.

I'm being pretty critical of the place I guess. It's the one of the only places I know of within an hours drive of BG.

I may be in if i'm off work that weekend.. Been there a couple times. Black Mountain can be as easy or as hard as you'd like it to be. Didn't get a lot of clean footage there but here's a small video of a meet we did there a while back.

I've got family in the Glasgow/Bowling Green area. A couple of 'em are into 4 wheelin'. I'll check with them and see if there's any good trails in that area. Years ago they took me on a trail just outside of Beech Bend Park.

I posted on the linked thread too, but I'm in my office right at the moment. It's located directly over the Mega Caverns! It was originally a limestone mine for a paving contractor. During the Cold War era ('60's) it was a Civil Defense bomb shelter. The city of Louisville also uses part of it to store it's supply of road salt.

All my buddies at Oxmoor Toyota (in Louisville) will be there!

    Nice looking truck!

You'll find a top notch Toyota dealer in Nicholasville, which is very close to Lexington. There's a real good one in Louisville too.....Oxmoor Toyota.

As long as they replace my leaf springs and reinstall my AAL before they break I will like them. My dealership in Fort Walton Beach has been the best dealership I have ever dealt with.

I need to get rid of that NFAB bar and the four lights the previous owner put on
The lights are cheap as shit. I rewired the whole thing once because I hated how he wired each light individually, so I have a shit load if fuses, relays, and grounds all over.

Only reason I keep it on is because the mounts screwed up the lover valance grille thing, and it hides another section of the paint that bubbled up and split due to water getting under the paint through a small crack, then evaporated, pulling the paint up. Not very happy about it.
