I have a much better SWR meter now. I figured out the old one wasn't quite up to task when it would give different readings each time I cycled it on the same radio.

As soon as I know I'll have a day off (That's not Christmas Day), I'm golden with this idea. I'm supposed to be off this Saturday. It'll be the first day off in 35 days. In all likelihood, it will be spent sleeping and seeing if I still recognize my wife. After that.....It's on! We may be able to do something New Years Eve or New Years Day......Weather will be an issue. I have my garage stuffed with furniture at the moment, so that's out....We'll be outside.

Also....figured out my driveway is NOT a good place to set SWR. There's a water tower about 1000' behind the house. The city has all the police/fire/street dept radio antenna's on it. It screws up radio transmission quite a bit. #1 trick to getting accurate SWR setting is to get as far away from buildings, antenna's, etc, as possible. a wide open empty parking lot is ideal.

Let me check into a couple spots where we might have some shelter and enough open space, plus a shorter drive for some of y'all.

I like to ask stoopid questions like "What's going on at mile ##?", "What lane are we supposed to be in?" and "Did you see that awesome 4x4!?!?" etc...

I was listening to a conversation between a few truckers on I 65. One was whining about the toll's about to start on the new bridges. He said the bridges were already paid for and the tolls went straight to the governor to pay for his cocaine habit. Another said there were cops sitting on top of the bridge towers with radar guns. Another was saying the government started aids and cancer to generate money and they have a cure for both but won't release it because that would end 200 billion in donations to the government every year. That was it....The straw that broke the camels back. I had to say something about how freekin' stupid they sounded. Then a few others chimed in on my side. It sounded like an argument on the internet! Then I just shut off the CB and went home laughing!
