There's tons of star notes in circulation, who knows- one day they might be worth something

Ah, coin collecting. My first hobby.

I have lots proof sets from random years, lots of commemoratives, and a few uncirculated sets. More stuff from recent years than older stuff. But, I do have a big jar filled with loose silver Walking Liberty half dollars, Morgan Dollars, and assorted silver dimes and quarters. My great-grandmother apparently had a huge chest filled with silver coins that she saved over the years and us great-grandchildren were lucky that she saved them.

Only thing I disliked about coin collecting is storing the coins. In Waimea (where I'm from) the humidity is pretty high and it's a challenge trying to keep the humidity in my safe down, even with the aid of those small dehumidifiers.

Every year I buy at least 2 American Buffalo proofs from the mint, and the other goal is to have the complete "Preamble" series of Platinum Eagles. Funny how an ounce of pure gold or platinum feels heavier somehow... :D

Otherwise, got some good NGC certified uncirculated Morgans of various mints/years, with more to be added. Also want to find some good "Walking Liberty" St. Gaudens gold.

I figure, I'll use some of it to retire, and the kids can have the rest when I'm gone :proposetoast:

We literally have hundreds of pennies, quarters, nickels, and dimes to go through. For example, had no idea that there was a half dime minted for only 3 years until I busted everything out

I'm thinking about selling the halfs and purchasing some older gold U.S. Coins. There's a couple that are separated off to the side that are in absolutely amazing condition.

The coins are currently at my parents house but I really want to get my hands on them to start valuing and seeing if anything stands out.

What's funny is I never used to be into coins, until couple months ago I found my first pre 1964 quarter in the cash register. Since then I've found a few more, and just today I got in trouble with the manager for popping open about 10 rolls. No dice

These silver coins really are works of beauty..
