    sure, but like I said, if everyone has a dual band capable radio, it's easy to move group communications to 446.500mhz for instance.

    I'm ok with using whatever though. :)

    No reason we couldn't add a couple 70cm frequencies to "the list"

    70cm is kind of wide open, different states do it differently, so I'll differ to y'all if we go that way. Honestly I typically just park on 446.000 (National FM Simplex calling frequency) because 70cm is only ever line of sight. I'm unaware of any "Sky wave" propagation. Of course I'm also used to not being at 9,000 feet, so the 12 miles LOS I'm used to isn't really 12 miles ;)


    I've got 3 total VHF/UHF receivers at my disposal. I'll be listening to 146.460 (pretty common FM Trail Frequency), 146.520 (National FM Simplex calling frequency) and $WhateverFrequencyYallChoose.

    My APRS transmitter is on it's own rig, and is ALWAYS on 144.390 (US 2m APRS Frequency.) :)

    Sometime between now, and when I come to Colorado, would one of y'all make some laminated cards that have callsigns, first names, and the color of your truck for me?

    I'm terrible with names, and worse with callsigns (at least until I've said them about 200 times.) A quick reference taped to my dash will go a LONG way :)

    I just ordered a cable from mobilkinkd for my VX-7R, as well as a magnet mount 2m SMA antenna from Byonics.
    This coupled with the One+ Android Phone I've got (with no SIM), will give me the ability to RX and plot y'all while I'm in CO. That's one drawback of my Microtrak-RTG is it's a telemetry beacon only. There's no receiver onboard.

    I could use the Kenwood Tm-D700, but then I have to give up one of my receivers, and that makes me sad ;)

    nice. i just ordered a mobilinkd tnc2.1 and planning on running it on my phone. might get a android tablet if it works. i have multiple handhelds to use exclusively (ill get an external antenna).

    Hey guys. Future ham here studying for technician exam....getting consistent 75-80% on practice exams, so I know I am nearly ready.

    Just a quick general newb question I suppose..... What is a good starting band plan for a total newbie? 2m, 70cm, any others that you recommend?

    Your getting there. Once you make it through all the possible questions, your score will be up in 80-90%.

    Having said that, I think both Brandon and I ran into 1-2 new questions on the actual test we took.
