How so? One could argue there is more than one 470 so you can't even say "the" when referring to it.

Well shit, then they were at THE 470 eastbound just before THE 25. Hope that clears it up. :luvya:

Oh so you were on E470, near I25, which is not to be confused with C470

Well technically it is the C-470. You're referring to the E-470 which is the east side of the I-25 which would mean they were heading eastbound just AFTER the I-25.
But truthfully it's all called SH-470, which is why I call it THE 470. But what do I know I'm not from here anyway right? Lol

But is SH-470 a freeway or expressway? :cookiemonster:

Edit: I hear C470 might be a tollway someday

Oh you must be talking about the south side of Denver. I was thinking the north side, where you would have actually been on NW parkway about to be on E470

Word. I don't believe I've even been up there but maybe twice. My neighbor, some old local dude, broke down the story of the 470 to me one time. He was talking about how they always have multiple names for the one road. He was the one that referred to it being "the" 470. I'm assuming because he lives down here on the south side then? I don't know. I from all over so I just use the road names I hear from others. Otherwise I would have to study google maps everytime I move :frusty::bananadead:

Lol just poking a little fun. That road has always been confusing. It would be nice if Golden would let them build so that they could actually complete the loop

Because our State is broke ass poor the "expansion" of C 470 is being done via PPP - Public Private Partnership funding. Design Build or CMGC. The State Approves the contracts and oversees the conformance to Contract. The Contractor and Designer and Funding Partner are responsible for the completion of the design process (including environmental clearance and right-of-way), construction, defined roadway maintenance and collection of toll fares. The Tolls are identified by capacity need (heavy traffic = pay up the ass). I 25 and US 36 were expanded using the same business model.

    Probably an old CDOT fuck.

HAHA. The past Mayor of Golden made this a nearly dead deal, and stupidly expensive option. They (Golden) converted all the existing ROW (right-of-way) adjacent to HWY 93 to Open Space (which can not be constructed on with out Commission Approval) to prohibit and stop Hwy 93 from being expanded for addition of capacity (additional lanes). No love there for CDOT or the commuting public. Ignorance at its best.

FYI - C470 was designed in concept in 1956. I worked on every construction phase of C470 (I 25 to I 70) and E 470 from I 25 to Parker Rd. I started at CDOH (it was Colorado Department of Highways then and became Department of Transportation later on) in 1979 as a drafts person while going to night school. After 30 yrs I retired as the Director of Staff Services.

My advice - if you don't like the commute here go to Houston or LA or..... then you might come back.

Badass! Thanks for the info! That's freaking hilarious about the Golden part.
It all kind of sounds a bit like the 215 in Vegas.

So true! I used to live on the Southwest side and drive to the base. I preferred to take the 215 all the way around.
