Yeah there is some skill but only on the run in, once going up all you can do in pin the throttle and smash gears. Sand is a lot of fun but really hard on bikes, if I rode dunes all the time I'd probably get a 2 stroke cause they are cheap to rebuild and easy to work on. But since I don't I'm not to worried about ruining my bike te one time I go a year.
I like holding it wide open in 5th on the huge bowls and feeling the g's, never get that feeling on dirt haha

Ya ripping through the bowl was sick. The one behind choke cherry was massive, a 5th gear pinned ride for sure. My buddy topped out his 450 on that one haha he was flying! Got up to 84! In a sand dune bowl! I hardly do 84 on the freeway.

Just Pismo or where have you taken it? The bowls in Glamis are plenty big enough for 5th gear

That explains the non paddle tire too. Pismo sand is alot less fine and usually has a lot of moisture in it. The thing that sucks is hitting the sand at 75mph, it doesnt matter how soft or dry the sand is, it still feels like concrete

How low should a chest protector be on your torso? I've read that it should go down to your waist but have also read it should be at about your belly button so that when you ride it doesn't hit your waist and push up the should pads.....? :notsure:
