I talked to the guy at the dealer we always use and he said that hes got a 2012 250 xcw with about 200 miles for 6999, and it will have brand new tires, wheels, plastics, etc.

I'm guessing its a demo bike? But is that a good deal?

Interesting. I'll have to check it out some more. I would rather have a totally brand new one if I'm gonna be dumping that kind of coin into it. I don't wanna spend 7 grand on a bike that already had its virginity taken away

I'm still trying to decide whether I want the xcw or xc. Most riding would be trails and stuff, but I do wanna find some tracks and get out riding on them. I rode my cousins xcw in a 40 mile poker run and I only got past second gear like twice. Then again, I don't wanna be shifting every two seconds either. I just can't decide.

I like the way you think.
I'm on the fence about it honestly. Athena 280cc kit is 800 bucks though and I wouldn't wanna leave the bottom end stock:frusty:

For half that I can just get another oem cylinder and pair it with a JE high compression piston.

LOL. Scuderia bought a bunch of those bikes a while ago-they were beat to shit (dealers get an incentive to buy/sell the demos).

    I have a few...

Ya KTMs are more expensive but they come with better hardware. Not that the other brands are not good, but KTMs are just a little nicer IMO. I haven't owned one... yet.

I also have a 1999 Yamaha YZ400F and a 2003 Honda XR400 but don't have any pics available right now.

I just sold my 11 250xc, wating on a 13 250xcf. I like the xc's but the w's are great bikes too. I have bought quite a few KTM demos and never had a bad experience. Check it over, pull the filter out, if its good and price is right i wouldnt be afraid of it. A grand off the bike will go a long way in extra parts and tires.
