I was so close to getting a early 2000 300exc that's my dream bike right now

 

got mine brand new, bought it down in SC so i could get it road legal, then transferred to me in NC when i bought it. dealership helped me out big time on that one. now i just need to get a few more parts and get it inspected and she's good to go

 

Any discipline in motorcycling is maintenance. Its part of the sport. If youre not maintaining a bike if youre riding a lot ita gonna create a lot of problems. I tear my trials bike down to the frame and engine at least once a month.

Any KTM is a little more high strung than most bikes. But youre getting a high quality machine. Just have to take care of it.

If youre a 2 stroke fan the 300 is the best youll get. Lots of power, smooth power curve, and theyre great for any size rider.

 

Yeah I'm not a very big guy I learned to ride on my dads 1100s and it's way too much of a bike. It hates 1st gear and barely stays under 25mph which is the speed limit to get out of my neighborhood

 

So I'm thinking about getting one of these to transport my DR-Z400 SM. Anyone here ever used one, or somthing like this?

Yea, most of them come with these.

 

I had one of those and wasn't a fan.
I got a moto jack after that. Way better and you don't have to super compress the bike suspension to keep it secure.

Is that the brand name also? I'm not set on the carrier yet, I'm just looking for some advice.

 

Looking at a 2001 drz400s with 9700 miles for $1700. Seems like a okay deal but really wanted something half as old or better. Opinions?

The DRZ has changed little in 20 years. I'd buy it.

 

Went to buy a 14' DR-Z400SM yesterday and 6 grand cash wasn't enough. But I did get them down to 7 grand. Any ideas on what I should be paying for this bike.

 

Buy a used one, it's not worth 7 grand in my opinion. A decent buy at 6.

 

I agree when they still don't have a 6th gear and fuel injection

 

Yeah I think that's a little high. Local dealer sells em regularly for less than $7k

 

I told them that the bike wasn't worth that much abd I didn't won't it enough for that price. I wish I could find a 2013, for under 6 grand. They have called me twice but haven't came away from the $7000 price. I'm not really sure about buying an older one. Is just like a dirty bike and I know how I always rode mine.
