I just got remote fuel screw thingers, an ITG filter, and the CPR snapout glovebox mod so jetting changes are a breeze now. Before it was a royal pain.

I'll get excited when specs are released. If it's overweight, underpowered, and/or the suspension is lacking then meh.

It's a Honda. The weight will be just right, the suspension will be better than any other factory setup, and the motor will be a bit underpowered but it's reliability will more than make up for that. ;)

Rotweiller is making some cool shit these days. I need to get the filter, glove box, and desmog kit one of these days. Between two toyota projects, a diesel build, a four wheeler, the KTM, and too many gun builds I'm tapped. I need to whittle down on some of my hobbies.

Looking at a BRP tomorrow (xr650r). I've always wanted one to make into a supermoto hoonmobile. Pics incoming if I pick it up!

That doesn't look half bad, if you never ride in rocks. All I can say is I have thick aluminum skid plates on both my bikes. The 525's looks like the craters of the moon due to the rocky trails out here in the mountains.

Checking out the snowmobile trail in the summer for down tree when I found this. The new tired Michelin T63's work awesome in the couple creek crossing and over old rail road ties.

Hey all, I'm about to buy some HDB handguards and stuffs. Since I'm not really sure what I'm doing and I can't see it before the money's spent, I'm trying to accumulate as much advice as I can.

First up, this is for a WR250R. Full stock except for some bent up bars from my latest escapade in the dirt. I primarily use it as a commuter at this point because my dirt skill is weak, but I want to be prepped as I gain prowess.

My shopping cart sits like this:
    1. 100x38/40mm top clamp bolt pattern
    2. ADVdx top clamp (I'd rather get all the holes and not need it than worry about it later)
    3. Windham mid fat bars (I held them in a store, I really can't feel much difference between bars)
    4. 100mm bolt lower clamp medium 2 1/8"
My main concern at this point is the lower clamp.
One person has mentioned that the tall clamp (2 1/2") is too tall.
At one point I had someone do a non-scientific measurement of me standing on the bike and said that if I was staying stock, 2" risers (such as Rox risers) would be ideal for me. I'm not sure how that measures against the HDB.

If you all can help me nail down what to do about that lower clamp, I can get the order placed and prepare for a fat mess of swapping bars :p

2" is a lot of rise. You might need it but might need cable extensions or longer cables. With my fucked up body ergo's (short legs, tall fucking torso, short arms) I need about 2" rise on most bikes.

Yeah, I'll deal with cables when it comes to that. That's way over my head so I'll hopefully drive to some guys that can help me (about 100 miles :() or just make a shop do it.
I'm sorta short legs and more torso, I'd say standard arm length, so most everything averages out for my 5'11" build.
I found this guy's page, so I at least know what the lower clamp looks like now. He doesn't say what size clamps he got, so that's not a big help, but at least I can do some measurements. I didn't think about the bar bends also playing a part, so that just makes it more complicated.
I did some more looking around, and the best I can get is that the stock bar rise is 60-65mm and the clamp is 45mm, netting 110mm overall.
If I want a 2" rise as I was recommended, then the new height needs to be 160mm.

So, plugging numbers (and doing a bit of rounding):
    A CR mid is a 82mm rise
HDB short clamp is 44.45mm, mid is 54mm, and tall is 63.5mm.
Respectively, a CR mid with the clamps are 126.5, 136, and 145.5.
As a result, the results are around 3/4", 1", or a 1.5" rise over stock

So, I'm on the right track, right? the CR mid with the HDB tall clamp should give the rise I need and not end up with ape hangers?

Yeah, as long as the measurements are rise over stock WR250R bars for the new bars.

I need to get the HDB set up for my KTM too. I took a digger and broke a mirror, handguard, and munched a crash bar and really like the looks of those. I think they would be much more likely to survive a crash on the big girl than the stock junk. Plus the mirrors aren't hanging out in the wind stream...
