Well, the weather has been pretty harsh, or just wet for what seems like over a year now here in PA, especially on weekends. Yesterday was dry, still a little cold, but first weekend of Spring, so we did a quick ride to Green Lane park and reservoir for some scenery and fresh air.

Looks like I might be cluttering up this thread with my adventures on my Yamaha XT250. Or maybe I am one of the very few people who even are watching/participating. Anyway, my Son and I trailered our Dual Sports to our cabin in the mountains of PA for a combination of Flag Day and Father's Day weekend with some riding and relaxing.

Started out with this short run from the end of a gravel Fracking road along an old logging trail then out an overgrown, but rutted Powerline to the point before it dropped about 1500' to a state park at the bottom:

We did not go down over this, rather we retraced our ride then headed out the top of the next ridge south to a public overlook called Hyner View, where we found another couple and their dogs who kindly snapped our Flag Day photo:

    Nice.

I should have pulled out the gopro this weekend. Rode 70 miles in the mark twain national forest on my yz450f. Ran into a tree to start the weekend.

I ended up forgetting to take the right cable to recharge my GoPro, so missed the best riding which happened on our second day. (had cables to charge phone and gps, forgot the GoPro). This shorter video on the return from the point ends with me in a muddy rut deeper than the pegs on my XT250 and eventually catching and launching me into the mud.

Hey buds, I picked up my first bike last month, a 2007 KTM 525 EXC <500 miles on it.

Sweet bike! Always wanted to find a KTM 500 or 525. How are the maintenance intervals on it? I rode a CRF450x as a dual sport bike for while, so oil changes every 300 miles wouldn't surprise me.

I'm not actually sure, it's my first bike ever. However, I'm super lucky to have a buddy that's got the same bike and who is an experienced rider and mechanic. Headed to Kennedy Meadows after Labor Day for some trail riding

That's a steal!!! Now just do a 12.5:1 piston, 8/06 cam, get the carb overbored with +1mm kibblewhite and a 5 angle valve job and unshround the head. Turns into a monster! Miss my old 525!

Life's rolling, it's been a whirlwind! Done with school, working for a year now. Moved to Grand Junction, CO but now I'm poor from student loans and the truck payment but only 3 more of those! Getting married soon™ and saving up for a house. Then after that a dirt bike again. Probably a KTM 500/501 though that new 790 R Rally is awfully tempting as a single solution. Though living 1.5 hours from Moab makes me want all the bikes.

When I had mine I did 20 hour oil changes based on blackstone labs reports with Rotella T6 5w-40. I could do 25 but usually 20 was before or after a big ride.

The original owner gutted the CA emissions items.

I threw on some new Maxxis desert TIs, new chain and a new rear sprocket.

Are non DOT tires sketchy on pavement? Do they slide out easy?
