I'm also concerned with the differences in video/still picture quality. Other than my iPhone this will be my only camera. Sold the DSLR a while back.

How are the still photos on the White edition?

Drop the extra cash and pick up the 3. I've had both and not counting the wifi backpack (which is worth it), the lens makes the hero 3's videos not have that sorta "fish eye" look where the video looks somewhat as a sphere. Also, the 3 seems to take better still photo quality without it being less likely to have motion such as in burst mode.

If you just want a GoPro pick up the 2. If you actually want a little better quality in low light, little better picture, and the wifi backpack, go ahead a get the 3.

P.S. The Wifi backpack is very nice cause you don't need to have the camera on you to operate it (such as on a motorcycle, just mount the remote on the handle bars) but you are gonna want to pop out $20 for an extra battery because it sucks it! Good Luck

I've got the Hero 3 Black and love it. You now have the ability to review pics and video on the gopro app with the wifi. I haven't ever used my remote, I always use the iphone app and you can see what the camera sees. The latest updates for the app are great.

What are you guys shooting on for quality and fps? I shot on 720 and 30fps this last weekend, but when I tried to do a time lapse, it was super chunky. I like to watch time lapse videos, so I think that's what I'm going to try to do as far as editing goes. I changed it to 720 and 60 fps. Should this be ok? The only reason I have it set on 720 is I only have a 32gb card. I have another 16g card, but I don't want to be taking these trail riding videos and completely filling up a card in about 10 minutes. This weekend will probably be about 3 hours on the trail. I'm still trying to figure out this movie maker. Seems fairly easy though. Any other tips?
Also, I am planning on using a suction cup mount to the windshield, should I also tether the camera to the truck somehow? If so, how do you guys tether them?
Thanks, and sorry for the 20 questions.

Timelapse mode needs some math to make it work. Here's a pretty good article on the subject. Once you figure this out, you can figure out how big a card you need.

As far as tethering, anytime you think the camera could fall off, it's worth tethering it. If you're going to mount it someplace it could fall off and hit some{one|thing}, by all means tether it. Another way to look at it; you are responsible for the damage it does

I'm seeing a handful of Go Pro Hero 3 Black models available "brand new, unopened" on craigslist, and they're all going for around $300-320. Brand new is $399.

As much as I'd like to save a few bucks, what would you guys do? Maybe just wait until someone posts one on here?

GoPro gives out $100 off coupons at some major events. I gave 3 codes away on here and bought a camera with the 4th, but if I had the funds I woulda bought all 4 and flipped a few of them...

Made me a clear pole mount today. It's just about 20" long and cost me about $16 (tripod mount, toilet plunger, hanger bolts) :D

Stoked that I made it and saved $$ rather than getting a GoPole :woot:
