I just ordered a hero 3 silver. I want to mount it on the side of the truck towards the rear, preferably behind the back tire. Anyone have ideas for a good sturdy mounting system.

They are sturdy enough to give a good shot?

I think so. Skip through the video I posted a few post ago. I had it stuck to the side of the bed for a little bit

Just make sure the surface and cup are clean and that you apply the suction cup correctly or else it could fall off.

I've got mounts all over my truck. I've got 3 GoPro Hero 3+ Black Editions and I mount them all over when we go off road. The only two that are noticeable are the two that are on each side of the bed.

And the suction mount is unbelievable strong

I dream of having at least two cameras. Makes it much easier to get your different viewing angles

It's nice when you can splice different angles of the same section into a continuous film.

Yup. If I had more than one camera, my videos would be much better

I thought about buying the 4 but there really wasn't that much difference to make me want to change. The video quality that I get out of these are great. Maybe once the 5 comes out I might change my mind. We'll just have to see what they have in store for us.

I agree. I have the Hero 3+ Black and I see no reason to upgrade to the 4.

If you're attaching camera to the truck, a safety cable isn't such a bad idea-at least you won't f' it up when the suction breaks. DAMHIK :)

The only thing I ever use the suction mount on is the windshield. I can literately rock the truck back and forth with it. I "personally" would never mount it to a body panel as I think it might actually pull a dent lol. In fact I leave it mounted to the inside of my back window when not in use.

Just picked up a Hero 4 BLACK at REI 20% off.. Total after 20% off - 398.99$ Good deal or what?

Now gotta start Heroing like all ya'll. If you knew what you knew now, when you first got yours, what would you tell yourself in order to help yourself before heroing?

Definitely pick up an extra couple batteries from Amazon. The Wasabi batteries put out about the same time as the factory Hero 4 batteries. Other than that (depending on how much what what kind of recording you are doing) packing one of those portable usb device chargers are pretty handy to always keeping your GoPro charged up.
