Okay so if you have stock wheels and stock tires let's say you get 16 mpg. You go up to 33s you drop to 14 mpg because of the tire diameter and power loss. Gear to 4.56 and that brings your power back to what it was stock, so it acts like those bigger tires aren't there. It will bring you back to close to stock mpg.

i played around on http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html and tested every tire and gear size that I would possibly use. I compared them all with stock rpm's and everything is higher rpms by at least 300. I don't know enough about this stuff to know how much of a difference that is, but that combined with the fact that almost everyone I've talked to with 33's and 4.56 or 35's and 4.56 says they are getting more power but not better gas mileage.

Sorry if I sound like a retard, but I'm not trying to spend all this money and do all this work, and then get worse gas mileage than I already do. Or do all this and then say o well i need bigger tires now to get the gearing to be comparable to stock, and go dump 2 grand on wheels and tires

If I were building a car off of some of your “theories” it would go down the freeway at 70mph at 800rpm but it would need to be floored the whole time. Thoughs other dumb car manufactures that build trucks that go down the road at 2500rpm at ¼ throttle don’t know anything right?

I know I am new here just to let you know, I am a little sarcastic please don’t hate me J

ur right in that aspect, but if u are already accounting for the chcange in tire diameter then u would see that u dont loose mpg's since u are traveling farther than what ur odometer says. yeah, u might have a slight power loss but i dont cuz of the supercharger.

example (this is using the odometer)
before i put bigger tires on, i was gettin around 300 miles to a tank on about 18 gallons of gas.
after tires, i was getting around 270 miles a tank on 18 gallons of gas.

however, i was still driving the same 300 miles that i was before based on GPS. so i really never lost the mpg that looked like i was. yes i might have lost like .5 mpg but nothing significant.

    give him a call.

no offence, but if you want mpg, get a prius.

4.56s and 33s will put your rpms slightly higher. 4.56s and 35s will put them slightly lower.

and you do lose mpg by using a gps because you lose power. gears brings your power back and gives you most of those mpgs back.

u dont lose mpg by using a gps.

if u have stock tires and travel 300 miles on a tank of gas according to the odometer then u have stock mpg.
if u have 33's and travel 270 miles with odometer but ur gps really says u drive 300 miles on a tank of gas, then guess what, going by ur odometer u "lose" mpg's, however, ur true distance traveled according to gps is still 300 miles, u really didnt lose any mpg's. this happened to me. going to a bigger tire did not net me any mpg loss in reality. just according to my odometer i did since i travel farther than my truck thinks i do cuz of a larger tire. yes, i bog down more and dont get up to speed as fast as i did but i didnt lose the mpg's like it was being shown

I'm saying if you calculate it using a gps to get the correct mileage it will bring your mileage back up.

Once again, if you want gas mileage get a prius.

Btw, your wrong, you will lose mpg going larger in tire size.
