I bet your back feels great after a 6hr ride in one.
Mine hurts after a long trek and it's fine usually.

Good idea for the critters/back. Mine are spider habitats from laying on my deck.

My perception seat sucks ass. lol My back always hurts after riding in it. I have used my buddies Wilderness Systems yak for the same amount of time and my back felt great. I can say hands down my next boat purchase will be a W.S.... shoulda done it from the beginning.

I originally had the thing sitting on a little frame I made on its side about 6" off the ground. Last weekend I got it out and had 3 big ass wolf spiders jump out at me and a couple more jump at me from under the tarp i had it on.

I made this hitch extension. The store bought ones weren't quite heavy duty enough for me. Bought some heavy steel tube and welded it up. It can also be turned vertical to carry out from the roof.

yes....don't do it. get her her own or don't bring her :D

in all seriousness if she isn't down to do it herself she most likely has never been or doesn't wanna do it at all but is putting up with it to make you happy. duels suck and unless your going to marry her there are plenty of women out there will kayak in their own yak. every girl I have ever taken ended up loving it. I suggest rentals on a lake to see fi she is ok with it if she has never done it.

Yep. Tandem kayaks are also called divorce boats. Not worth using at all.

    this!
Haha that fucker fell on me once when I didnt have it sitting on there right. I found out fast that a 50lb kayak falling on you from just a few feet does NOT feel good. As far as wind, I am not too concerned with that. We have had some pretty decent wind gust the past few days and didnt have any issues. There are a ton of trees to the left of the pic and also some decent foliage on both front and back so there isn't much wind that gets back there.

i searched through the first 12 pages of this thread and couldnt find anything so im copying this from another thread i started in hopes of finding anwers

im looking to get into kayaking, i also dont have a lot of cash. im trying to find out if a 300 pound weight capacity kayak will work for me. i weigh 275. i have asked a few places that sell kayaks and cant get a straight answer, probaly because they are just worried about making a sale.
the weight capacity is my concern because a 300 pound capacity kayak is alot cheaper then say a 400 pound or higher. you can find 300 pound kayaks for $300 or cheaper, any higher capacity is around $500 or more.

i dont plan on carrying any heavy gear, and i wont be on the water by myself so if i need to i can put gear in one of my friends kayaks. also i wont be doing any crazy rapids just ponds/lakes and slow rivers.

IMO go for the heavier weight rating, you will definitely float in the 300 lb boat but you may not feel comfortable in it. You mayl sit very low in the water also. What boats are you looking at in particular and what type of water will you be paddling? How long do you plan to be on the water? One of the best things to do before investing so much money into a boat would be to participate in a demo day. Many kayak/canoe shops do demo days once or twice a year. Many of them also rent kayaks. I know many REI locations rent boats. It is important to test a kayak out because of the comfort of the seat, shape of the seat, width of kayak, length of kayak. Everyone has a personal preference for these things and these factors and help form your opinion in hating or enjoying paddling. Also, think about how much you will be spending on a paddle. The paddle is also a very important part of your experience. Make sure to get the proper length dependent on your arm length and boat you will be paddling. A paddle can be pricey so it is good to keep it in mind when spending money on the actual boat.

You never know what your kayaking will evolve into so I would go with the heavier weight capacity. A boat is much more stable when it's not at or near it's weight limits.

I'm pushing 240# and all my yaks are 300# +.
