I haven't had time to get out yet this year either. We live near Old Mystic Village in CT, looks like it is a nice place to kayak, small river with access to Long Island Sound. I'l be making time for a trip there soon and posting up some pictures here.

Any of you take your kayaks on your vehicles for several days? I am due to change duty stations and I really do not want carry the kayak in the open. I've been thinking of getting a cover....

Any of you have any recommendations?

Yes, for camping trips my kayak is on the truck for days at a time. Where would you carry a kayak where it's not open? I'm confused about the question. What kind of kayak do you have? What kind of cover are you looking for.

We've gone overnight with them. Not worried about keeping them covered but protection from theft. My husband bought a long cable lock that goes around both kayaks and locks around the Yakima and factory rook rack (on our MDX). If using my truck....I would use the same cable lock and wrap around the kayaks and one of the bed rings....

Sorry for not being clear......:eek::eek: Lack of sleep...

I meant open as not covered...on my truck...

I have to travel to Washington (from GA) and I do not like it being exposed for that long and at highway speeds....bugs, sun, rain....you get it? :D

I have that same cable from Yakima! I am looking for a cover like a tarp, but do not want to use a tarp since I have to go at highway speeds and it will just end up getting all ballooned up...

I leave mine outside on my deck for the majority of the summer, never cover them up on trips or during storage, and have had one of my two for over a decade. I just hose mine out before and after use and they are fine. No sun fade at all. They are still in perfect condition so no I do not know what you mean. :D

I asked what kind because if it's wooden, fiberglass, or kevlar you may want to choose a different tact than myself, but if it's a over sized Rubbermaid trashcan like mine are they are pretty much indestructible as long as it's not sub zero. My take on covers....if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. It's just a kayak.

I just picked up a Wilderness Tarpon 120 & I plan on installing a Lowrance Mark-4 Sonar/GPS Combo using a Battery Box Complete Power System from Kayak Fishing supplies.

Does anyone have any fish finder pics or recommendations for the install?

    Thanks

That's a sweet ass yak! I'm not into sit on tops but every time I see one of them and it's sleek hybrid design it makes me want to get one. Looks like one hell of a comfortable yak to be on all day.

We will see how the new Tarpon 160 does this weekend. Got a long paddle thru San Diego bay, pick up a scoop of bait and out to Point Loma for some Halibuit.
