I'm looking at getting into Kayak fishing and was looking at a Jackson Cuda 12' or a Perception Pecerdor or something else???
Will be carrying on the roof of my DCSB.
Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I am still about 4 to 6 weeks out from purchasing and want to rent a couple first to get a feel for them.

The Jackson Cuda is a really nice kayak. I've been considering one myself. The seat is one of the biggest selling points for me (long day comfort).

I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 and it is a sufficient kayak for fishing, but it's 10 years old and didn't have much outfitting for fishing when I bought it. The Angler edition has plenty of bells and whistles.

The Pescador is a more reasonably priced version of the old Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 (same mold), but it has cheaper quality outfitting (hatches, handles, hardware, etc.)

If it's your first kayak ever, I would recommend finding something on Craigslist and trying that first. There are plenty of people selling kayaks on there.

Hi, I would recommend trying before buying especially a new one (cuda sells for around 1200.00. So be sure before you invest. Second if your going to put it on the roof it's heavy 70 lb's or so with out gear. I slide mine in the back of my truck 6' box and 2' tailgate and it rides nice corner to corner. The advantage is I leave all my gear attached except for my cooler to reload for the next trip. Fast easy and simple . As far as the Cuda 12 goes I love it. Takes a little to master standing up to fish though. I'm not worried about flipping it just falling out myself. It is designed to hold all your gear , has numerous poll holders and places to attach what ever you need. I looked and tried a few kayaks such as the wilderness ride x (did not like the seat but the new ones will have a nicer seat). Just make sure the kayak fits your needs Cuda is great for lake and slow moving streams and the Coosa is better for rivers. Look around and try some different ones it's a big investment for a new one. That's the fun of it deciding what you want.[IMG]

All good advice there. I've been lusting for a Jackson Coosa for awhile now, but I can't justify the $1100 price. Recently bought a brand new Pescador for less than $500 and I'm real happy with it. It's almost exactly like my old T120. Maybe one day I'll get my hands on a Coosa. I agee with the guys who say you should look on Craigslist for your first one and get it at a cheap price. You won't know quite what you need until you've tried one out for awhile. My first was a cheap used Cobra Explorer. I still have it, but it's #3 out of 3.

Anyone interested in a 17' Old Town Discovery? It comes with two paddles and a trolling motor setup. PM me if you're interested.

Took the in-law's dog, Zorro out for a paddle this afternoon. I don't think he knew he could swim before today.

Picture of my Kayaking setup. Picked this 10ft up from an old guy that just had it behind his garage for $100. Threw a rod holder, paddle holder, and some tie downs on it and fell in love. Don't think you can beat it for the $150 i have in it all together!
