Thought I'd drop by and let y'all know what I have. Well actually what I don't have. Recently sold my Emotion sit on top yak. Pictured below....Kinda. As soon as my tax return comes in I'll be purchasing a new Hobie Mirage Pro Angler. Have never been so excited and cannot wait to get out on the water with it.

you'll love it. I have 2016 hobie outback and that thing is amazing. couple of buddies have the PA, the only downfall is the weight. launching the PA is a workout in itself.

I've read the same thing on a lot of reviews. I'll probably go in and purchase the kayak cart as well. Shoot if I'm spending that much money what is another couple hundred dollars.

Man I cannot wait to put that thing in the water and try out the drive system. That's going to make getting to certain places a breeze.

perfect for that. the first time i landed a speckled trout on it i was in this little bayou that the mouth was probably about a foot deep. you know no boat has been in there in a long time it was great. just make sure to pull up the mirage drive when it starts getting shallow. made that mistake the 3rd time i went out.

Do you utilize any kind of depth/fish finder GPS combo on your kayak? The thought of buying one has crossed my mind but to be honest I don't know if I would ever use it so I'm leaning more towards different upgrades first before I'd jump into that.

So I actually bought this one:

    http://www.westmarine.com/buy/lowra...er-83-200khz-455-800khz-transducers--16222895

the Lowrance Elite-4 CHIRP with 3D imaging and downscan. It was $300 but this past black Friday they dropped it to $200 so I jumped on it. I haven't had the chance to even install it since I deployed to AFG last month and it was pretty cold in December so I figured I would wait. I noticed you're in Florida, I am as well near Pensacola. I mostly wanted it to find wrecks in the Gulf and with the 3D downscan I can literally see the shape of the ship or reef plus it has a chartplotter so finding the exact waypoint is critical since its a manpowered watercraft. In the bays I wouldn't primarily use it as a fishfinder but as a depth finder. That will help me from smashing the mirage drive on the floor. Not only that, but had I owned this earlier it would have prevented me from hitting the mirage drive on a log that was under the surface that i didn't see.

Depending on whatever other mods you're planning for, I'd say grab a fishfinder you'll want it some point. Plus you're getting a PA haha what other mods do you absolutely NEED on that thing. you have a ton of storage and rod holders already built in.

Put the wheels closer to center and it'll be a lot easier. I use something similar to haul my kayak when needed.

I have always had dagger 16' sea kayaks.. But thinking about a shorter ~10-12' kayak.. Specifically dagger axis.. Anyone with experience with these? I love a rudder but not sure what one is like without one
